T o turn on your ca mcorder when the LCD screen is o pen, press PO WER. 2 Select the desired language, then touch [Next]. 3 Select the desired geographical area with / , then touch [Next].

19 GB Getting started Inser ting a memory card Notes Set the recording medi um to [Memo ry Card] to record mo vies and/or p hotos on a m emory card. T ypes of memory card you can use with your camcord.
20 GB Open the cover , and inser t the memory card with the notched edge in the direction as illustrated until it clicks. Close the cover after inserting the memory card. The [Preparin g image data base file. Please wait.] screen appears if y ou insert a new memory card.
21 GB Recording/Pla yback Recording/Playback Recording In the defa ult setting, movies a nd phot os are r ecorded on the in ternal recor ding media. Mo vies are r ecorded with high definition ima ge quality (HD). Tips T o change the r ecording media, see page 18.
22 GB Recording movies Press MODE t o turn on the (Movie) lamp. Press ST ART/STOP to start recording . T o stop recordin g, pres s ST ART/S TOP again. T o display items on the L CD screen again T ouch anywhere o n the screen except the bu tto ns on the LCD screen so tha t you can use items.
23 GB Recording/Pla yback Notes If you c lose the LCD screen while recording mo vies, the camcor der stops r ecording. The maximum co ntinuo us recor dable time of mo vies is about 13 ho urs. When a mo vie file exceeds 2 GB, the next movie file is creat ed auto matically .
24 GB Shooting photos When disappears, the ph oto is reco rded. Press MODE t o turn on the (Photo) lamp . The LCD screen displa y switch es for ph oto reco rding mode, a nd the screen aspect ratio becomes 4:3. Press PHO T O lightly t o adjust the focus, then pr ess it fully .
25 GB Recording/Pla yback If white circular spots appear on photos (HDR-P J50E/P J50VE) This is caused by pa rticles (dust, pollen, etc.) floating close to the lens. W hen they are accentua ted by the ca mcorder ’ s f lash, they appear as whit e circular spots.
26 GB Selecting the recording mode Y ou can cha nge the quality o f the image tha t you r ecord b y touchin g (MENU) [Imag e Quality/Size] [ REC Mode]. The types of media that imag es can be saved on will depend on the reco rding mode selected.
