4 Nev er place the TV in hot, humid or excessi vely dusty places. Do not install the TV where it may be exposed to mechanical vibrations. For en vironmental and safety r easons, it is recommended that the TV is not left if standby when unused. Disconnect fr om the mains.
5 GB Additional Safety Information • Do not block or cover the ventilation opening situated on the bottom re ar of the TV set. For ventilation, leave a space of at least 10 cm from the wall.
6 Checking the Accessories supplied Inserting Batteries into the Remote Control Make sure you insert the supplied ba tt eries using the cor rect polarities.
7 GB Overview of Remote Control Buttons 1 TV I/ : To Temporarily Swit ch Off TV (s tandby mode): Press this button to temporarily switch off TV (the standby indicator on the TV lights up). Press again to sw itch on TV from standby mode. • To save energy we recommend switching off completely when T V is not in use.

12 Introducing and Using the Menu System Your LCD TV uses an On-Screen menu system to gui de you through the operations. Use the following buttons on the Remote Control to operate the men u system: 1 To switch on the menu screens : Press th e MENU button to switch t he first level menu on.
13 GB The Picture Adjustment Menu The “Picture Adjustment ” menu allows you to alter the picture se ttings. To do this: Press the MENU button and then press OK to enter this menu. Next press v or V to select the desired option and press OK . Finally read below how to operate into each option.
14 The Sound Adjustment Menu The “Sound Adjustment” menu allows you to alter the sound settings. To do this: Press the MENU button and p ress v to select , then press OK to enter this menu. Next press v or V to select the desired option and press OK .
15 GB Auto Volume Press v or V to select On (the volume level of the chann els will stay the same, independent of the broadcast signal, e. g. in the case of advertisements) or Off (the volume level changes according to the broadcast signa l). Next press OK to store.
16 The Features Menu The “Features” menu allo ws you to alter vari- ous settings of the TV. To do this: Press the MENU button and p ress v twice to select , then press OK to enter this menu. Next press v or V to select the desired option and press OK .
17 GB AV3 OUTPUT This option allows you to select the sour ce to be output from the Scart connector 3 / 3 so that you can record from this Scart a ny signal coming from the TV or from an external equipment connected to the Scart connector 1 / 1 , 2 / 2 or front connectors 4 or 4 and 4 .
18 The Set Up Menu The “Set Up” menu al lows you to alter various options on this TV. To do this: Press the MENU button and press v three times to select , then press OK to enter this menu. Next press v or V to select the desired option and press OK .

20 TV Functions MANUAL PROGRAMME PRESET This option allows you to: a) Preset channels or the VCR channel one by one to the programme order of your choice. To do this: 1 Once you have entered the “Set Up”m enu as it is explained on page 18 and after selecting the "Manual Programme" option, press OK .

22 Teletext Teletext is an i nformation service tra nsmitted by most TV stations. The i ndex page of the teletext service (usually page 100) gives you information on ho w to use th e service. To operate telete xt, use the remote control buttons as indicated below.

24 Connecting Equipm ent to the TV • Using the following instructions you ca n connect a wide range of optional equipment to yo ur TV set. • Connecting cables are not supplied. • To avoid picture distortion, do not conne ct external equipm ent to connectors A and B at the same time.
25 GB Connecting Audio Equipment to the TV Conect your audio equipment to the audio output sockets D if you wish to amplify the audio output from TV. Next , using the menu system, sele ct the “Sound Adjustment” menu and set the “TV Speakers” to “O ne time off” or "Permanent off" (see page 15).
26 Remote Control Configuration for VCR or DVD In it’s default c ondition this remote control will operate the basic functions of this Sony TV, Sony DVDs and most Sony VCRs. To control VCRs and DVDs of ot her manufacturers (and some Sony VCR models), th e remote control needs to be configured.

28 Replacing the lamp When the lamp becomes dark or the picture colour is not normal or the lamp indicator on the TV set flashes, replace with a new lamp. • Only use the lamp XL-2100E for replacement. If you us e another lamp, it may cause damage to the TV set.
29 GB 4 Loosen the screw with an object such as a coin and remove the lamp cover. 5 Loosen the two screws and pull out the lamp. Loosen two screws with the Pull out the lamp by the handle. hexagon key supplied. The lamp is still extremely hot immediately after the pow er is turned off.

32 Troubleshooting Here are some simple solutions to probl ems which may affect the picture and sound. Problem No picture (screen is dark) and no sound. Poor or no picture (screen is dark), but good sound. No picture or no menu information from equipment connected to the Scart connector.
33 GB Problem v , V , B and b buttons do not work in PAP mode. Remote control does not function. The standby indicator on the TV flashes. The lamp indicator on front of the TV set is lit. Problem If no picture is displayed and the NO SYNC message appears on the screen.
