R ead carefully “Dyn amic DNS T erms of Use Agreement” in the Important Notice befor e using t his product.

Note Place the Base Station at least 4 inches (10 cm) aw ay from the wall. Insert th e claws of the stan d into th e hole s on the bottom of the Ba se Station a nd slide the stand forward until they cl ick into pl ace.
Setup and Ca ble Connec tions 12 Press the PO WER bu tton on the front panel of the Base Statio n to turn it on. The PO WER LED on the fr ont panel of the Base Station lig hts green. Also, th e NET A V LED blinks gree n until an auto matic NetA V check begi ns.

If the infrared recei vers on the two video de vices do not line up like th e illustrati on abov e, you need to purchase an optional IR Blaster (VM-50, not supplied) and instal l it.

The Feat ures of the Base Station 20 The Features of the Bas e Station Automatic NetA V check tests the settings of your Base Stati on and your rout er to see if LocationFree ® c lient de vices can connect to t he Base Station vi a the Internet.
The Feat ures of the Base Station 21 The wireless c ommunication function of the Base Statio n LF-V30 wor ks in one o f the two wireless modes; Access Poi nt mode or Client mode. Y ou can change t he mode with the WLAN switch on the rear panel of the L F-V30 ( 1 page 8).
Base Station Sett ings 22 Base Station Settings The appearance s and the a vail able setting items dif fer depending on t he LocationF ree ® client de vi ces connected t o the Base Stat ion. This section e xplains the set tings by using a compute r installe d with Loc ationF ree ® Player (LF A- PC30).
Base Station Sett ings 23 When the automatic NetA V check has failed, the NET A V LE D of the Base Station l ights amber . In this case, perform th e NetA V check from the [Base St ation Sett ings] page manually . 1 Click [NetA V Check] on t he [Base Station Sett ings] p age .
Base Station Sett ings 24 Y ou can confir m and make adv anced settings for the Base Station. Y ou need to enter the user name and the passw ord before setting. 1 Click [Set tings] on the [Base St ation Sett ings] p age . The login screen appears. 2 Enter the user name (lfx) and password, and click [OK].
Base Station Sett ings 25 This se ction exp lains th e operati ons common to each frame in the [Base St ation Settings] p age. 1 Click the item to configure. The information for the cl icked item ap pears in the frame on the right. 2 Return to the [Base Station S ettings] pa ge.

Base Station Sett ings 28 2 An SSID is alread y entered here at the time of purchase (the ch aracters shown on the side of the Base St ation). If yo u want t o change it, enter a stri ng of up to 32 al phanumeric characters and symbols. An SSID is an ID that ident ifies a wi reless networ k.
Base Station Sett ings 29 When you set t he WLAN switch to “CLIENT , ” you can chang e the wireless settings for the Client mode of the Base Station. 1 Click [Sc an] to m ake a list of SS IDs of wireless acce ss points in th e vicinity of the Base Station.
Base Station Sett ings 30 z WEP WEP is the wi reless LAN security t echnology specif i ed by IEEE802 .11. It applies encrypti on to communicati ons to pre vent outsi ders from interce pting comm unicati ons or intrudin g into your wirel ess networ k. There are two ty pes of encrypt ion ke y length: 64-bit k ey an d 128-bit k ey .
