3 About This Manual The instructions in this manual ar e for models STR-DE925 and STR-DE825. Check your model number by looking at the upper right corner of the fr ont panel. In this manual, the STR-DE925 is used for illustration purposes unless stated otherwise.
4 Hooking Up the Components This chapter describes how to connect various audio and video components to the r eceiver . Be sure to r ead the sections for the components you have before you actually connect them to the r eceiver .

In this case, do not connect the TV’s video output jack to the TV/DBS VIDEO IN jack on the receiver .

16 Hooking Up and Setting Up the Speaker System Speaker impedance T o enjoy multi channel surround, connect front, center , and rear speakers with a nominal impedance of 8 ohms or higher , and set the speaker IMPEDANCE SELECTOR to “8 Ω .” Check the instruction manual supplied with your speakers if you’re not sur e of their impedance.
17 Hooking Up and Setting Up the Speaker System Depending on the shape of your r oom (etc.), you may wish to place the r ear speakers behind you instead of on the side walls. One advantage of this placement is that you can use a pair of large floor standing speakers matching your front speakers.

31 Enjoying Surround Sound GENRE : VIR TUAL 3D (continued) Sound field Effect Notes Uses 3D sound imaging to create an array of virtual r ear speakers positioned higher than the listener from a single pair of actual rear speakers. This mode cr eates 5 sets of virtual speakers surrounding the listener at approximately a 30° angle of elevation.
