3 F eatures Overview B Overview Features High brightness, high picture quality High brightness Adopting Sony's u nique ne w optical system that incorporates newly de v eloped LCD panels provides a high-ef ficienc y optical system. It allows the 165 W UHP lamp to giv e a light output of 2000 ANSI lumen.

6 Location and Function of Controls j INPUT A connector (HD D-sub 15-pin, female) Inputs a computer signal, video GBR signal, component signal, or DTV signal depending on the connected equipment. Connects to the output connector o f equipment using the s upplied cable or an optional cable.

Use the following table as a guide. There may be a slight difference between the actua l v alue and the design value shown in the table above .
9 Connecting the Projector Projecting the Pict ure Connecting the Pr ojector When yo u connect the projector , make sure to: • T urn off all equipment before making any connections. • Use the proper c ables for each connection. • Insert the cable plugs fi rmly; loose connections may in crease noise and reduce performance of picture signals.
10 Connecting the Projector SVGA (VPL-CS20) mode for the external monitor . • If you set your computer, such as a notebo ok computer , to output th e signal to both your computer’ s display and the external monitor , the picture of the external monitor may not appear properly .

12 Proje cting The projection size that can be adjusted with the automatic focus adjustment is from 40-inch up to 150-inch. Howe ver , it may not be perfectly adjusted depending on the brightness of the room, or the state of the screen. In this case, adjust it manually in step 8 on page 13.
13 Projecting Projecting the Pict ure • When you adjust the powered tilt adjuster with the TIL T key , the V keystone a djustment is performed at the same time. If you do not want to perform the automatic keyston e adjustment, set the V Ke ystone menu to “Manual.
14 T urning Off the Po wer T urning Off the Po w e r 1 Press the ? / 1 key . “PO WER OFF? Please press ? / 1 key again.” appears to confirm that you w ant to turn of f the po wer . The message disappears if you press any key o ther than the ? / 1 ke y , or if you do not press any k ey for f ive seconds.
15 Selecting the Menu Language Con venie nt Functions B Convenient Functions Selecting the Menu Language Y ou can select one of fif teen languages for displaying the menu and other on-screen displays. The facto ry setting is English. T o change the menu language, proceed as follows: 1 Plug the A C power cord into a wall outlet.
16 Security Lock T o clear the menu Press the MENU key . The menu disappears auto matically if a key is not pressed for one minute. Security Loc k The projector is equipped with a security lock function. When you turn the po wer of the projector on, you are required to input the pre viously set password.
17 Security Lock Con venie nt Functions 3 Enter the password again to conf irm. When the follo wing message is displayed, the setting fo r security lock is completed. If “In valid P assword!” is displayed on the menu screen, perform this procedure again from step 1.
18 Other Functions Other Functions If you are lea ving the conference room immediately , turn the projector of f, and then, after the po wered tilt adjuster is ret racted into the projector , you can unplug the A C power cord. After the A C power cord is unplugged, the fan runs for a certain time automatically .

24 The Signal Menu This projector has 40 type s of p reset data for input signals (the pres et memory). When a preset signal is input, the projector automatically detects the signal type and recalls the data for the signal from the preset memory to adjust it to an optimum pict ure.

26 The Function Menu • Press the AP A key when the full image is disp lay ed on the screen. If the projected image includes a black portion around it, the AP A function will no t work properly and some parts of the image may not be displayed on the screen.

32 Replacing the Lamp B Maintenance Replacing the Lamp The lamp used as a light so urce is a consumable product. Thus, replace the lamp with a ne w one in the follo wing cases.

F old down the handle to replace it ( b ). • Be careful not to touch the glass surface of the la mp. • The power will not turn on if the lamp is not secured properly .
34 Cleaning the Air Filter Cleaning the Air Filter The air filter should be cleaned e very 500 hours. Remove dust from the outside of the ventilation holes with a v acuum cle aner . 500 hours are approximate. This v alue varies depending on the en vironment or ho w the projector is used.
