Chapter 1 Introduction 1-1 Overview The SuperServer 6015B-3/6015B-T is a high-end server comprised of two main subsystems: the SC815TQ-560 1U server chassis and the X7DBR-3/X7DBR-E dual processor serverboard.
1-2 S UPER S ERVER 6015B-3/6015B-T User's Manual 1-2 Serverboard Features At the heart of the SuperServer 6015B-3/6015B-T lies the X7DBR-3/X7DBR-E, a dual processor serverboard based on Intel's 5000P chipset. Below are the main features of the X7DBR-3/X7DBR-E (see Figure 1-1 for a block diagram of the chipset).

Following these steps in the order given should enable you to have the system operational within a minimum amount of time.

Chapter 2: Server Installation 2-5 Installing the Outer Rails Begin by measuring the distance from the front rail to the rear rail of the rack. Attach a short bracket to the front side of the right outer rail and a long bracket to the rear side of the right outer rail.

Refer to the table on the right for pin de fi nitions. A TX Power Connector The primary A TX power supply con- nector meets the SSI (Superset A TX) 20-pin speci fi cation.
Chapter 5: Advanced Serverboard Setup 5-13 Overheat/Fan Fail LED (OH) Connect an LED to the OH connection on pins 7 and 8 of JF1 to provide ad- vanced warning of chassis overheat- ing or fan fail. Refer to the table on the right for pin de fi nitions.

Refer to the table on the right for pin de fi nitions. Power Button The Power Button connection is located on pins 1 and 2 of JF1.

See the table on the right for pin de fi nitions. Power LED/Speaker On the JD1 header , pins 1-3 are for a power LED, pins 4-7 are for the speaker .
Chapter 5: Advanced Serverboard Setup 5-17 W ake-On-LAN The W ake-On-LAN header is desig- nated JWOL. See the table on the right for pin de fi nitions. Y ou must enable the LAN W ake-Up setting in BIOS to use this feature. Y ou must also have a LAN card with a W ake- on-LAN connector and cable.

These ports accept RJ45 type cables. SGPIO The two headers labeled SGPIO1 and SGPIO2 are for SGPIO (Serial Gen- eral Purpose Input/Output).

Chapter 6: Advanced Chassis Setup 6-1 Chapter 6 Advanced Chassis Setup This chapter covers the steps required to install components and perform mainte- nance on the SC815TQ-560 chassis. For component installation, follow the steps in the order given to eliminate the most common problems encountered.

Chapter 6: Advanced Chassis Setup 6-3 6-3 System Fans Four 40-mm heavy duty counter-rotating fans provide the cooling for the SuperServer 6015B-3/6015B-T . Each fan unit is actually made up of two fans joined back-to- back, which rotate in opposite directions.

Chapter 6: Advanced Chassis Setup 6-5 Accessing the Drive Bays SAS/SA T A Drives: Because of their hotswap capability , you do not need to access the inside of the chassis or power down the system to install or replace SAS or SA T A drives. Proceed to the next section for instructions.

Mounting a SAS/SA T A drive in a drive carrier The SAS/SA T A drives are mounted in drive carriers to simplify their installation and removal from the chassis. These carriers also help promote proper air fl ow for the drive bays.
Chapter 6: Advanced Chassis Setup 6-7 Use caution when working around the SAS/SA T A backplane. Do not touch the backplane with any metal objects and make sure no ribbon cables touch the backplane or obstruct the holes, which aid in proper air fl ow .
6-8 S UPER S ERVER 6015B-3/6015B-T User's Manual DVD-ROM and Floppy Drive Installation The top cover of the chassis must be opened to gain full access to the DVD-ROM and fl oppy drive bays. The 6015B-3/6015B-T accomodates only slim-line DVD- ROM drives.
Chapter 6: Advanced Chassis Setup 6-9 6-5 Power Supply The SuperServer 6015B-3/6015B-T has a single 560 watt power supply , which is auto-switching capable. This enables it to automatically sense and operate at a 100v to 240v input voltage. An amber light will be illuminated on the power supply when the power is off.

Chapter 7: BIOS 7-1 Chapter 7 BIOS 7-1 Introduction This chapter describes the Phoenix BIOS™ Setup utility for the X7DBR-3/X7DBR-E. The Phoenix ROM BIOS is stored in a fl ash chip and can be easily upgraded using a fl oppy disk-based program.
7-2 S UPER S ERVER 6015B-3/6015B-T User's Manual 7-2 Running Setup Default settings are in bold text unless otherwise noted. The BIOS setup options described in this section are selected by choosing the appropriate text from the main BIOS Setup screen.
Chapter 7: BIOS 7-3 Main BIOS Setup Menu Main Setup Features System Time T o set the system date and time, key in the correct information in the appropriate fi elds. Then press the <Enter> key to save the data. System Date Using the arrow keys, highlight the month, day and year fi elds, and enter the correct data.
7-4 S UPER S ERVER 6015B-3/6015B-T User's Manual IDE Channel 0 Master/Slave, IDE Channel 1 Master/Slave, SA T A Port2 and SA T A Port3 These settings allow the user to set the parameters of IDE Channel 0 Master/ Slave, IDE Channel 1 Master/Slave, IDE Channel 2 Master , IDE Channel 3 Master slots.
Chapter 7: BIOS 7-5 CHS Format The following items will be displayed by the BIOS: TYPE: This item displays the type of IDE or SA T A Device. Cylinders: This item indicates the status of Cylinders. Headers: This item indicates the number of headers. Sectors: This item displays the number of sectors.
7-6 S UPER S ERVER 6015B-3/6015B-T User's Manual Parallel A T A This setting allows the user to enable or disable the function of Parallel A T A. The options are Channel 0 and Channel 1. Serial A T A This setting allows the user to enable or disable the function of Serial A T A.
Chapter 7: BIOS 7-7 System Memory This display informs you how much system memory is recognized as being present in the system. Extended Memory This display informs you how much extended memory is recognized as being present in the system. 7-4 Advanced Setup Choose Advanced from the Phoenix BIOS Setup Utility main menu with the arrow keys.
7-8 S UPER S ERVER 6015B-3/6015B-T User's Manual Boot Features Access the submenu to make changes to the following settings. QuickBoot Mode If enabled, this feature will speed up the POST (Power On Self T est) routine by skipping certain tests after the computer is turned on.
Chapter 7: BIOS 7-9 Memory Cache Cache System BIOS Area This setting allows you to designate a reserve area in the system memory to be used as a System BIOS buffer to allow the BIOS write (cache) its data into this reserved memory area.
7-10 S UPER S ERVER 6015B-3/6015B-T User's Manual or written into the L1, L2, L3 cache inside the CPU to speed up CPU operations. Select "Uncached" to disable this function. Select "Write Through" to allow data to be cached into the buffer and written into the system memory at the same time.
Chapter 7: BIOS 7-1 1 Slot#6 PCI-X 133MHz, Slot E1 x8, Slot E2 x4 and Slot E3 x8 Access the submenu for each of the settings above to make changes to the following: Option ROM Scan When enabled, this setting will initialize the device expansion ROM.
7-12 S UPER S ERVER 6015B-3/6015B-T User's Manual Memory Branch Mode This option determines how the two memory branches operate. System address space can either be interleaved between the two branches or Sequential from one branch to another . Mirror mode allows data correction by maintaining two copies of data in two branches.
Chapter 7: BIOS 7-13 Advanced Processor Options Access the submenu to make changes to the following settings. CPU Speed This is a display that indicates the speed of the installed processor . Frequency Ratio (A vailable when supported by the CPU.) The feature allows the user to set the internal frequency multiplier for the CPU.
7-14 S UPER S ERVER 6015B-3/6015B-T User's Manual Adjacent Cache Line Prefetch (A vailable when supported by the CPU.) The CPU fetches the cache line for 64 bytes if this option is set to Disabled. The CPU fetches both cache lines for 128 bytes as comprised if Enabled.
Chapter 7: BIOS 7-15 Interrupt This setting allows you to select the IRQ (interrupt request) for serial port A. The options are IRQ3 and IRQ4 . Serial Port B This setting allows you to assign control of serial port B. The options are Enabled (user de fi ned), Disabled, Auto (BIOS controlled) and OS Controlled.

Event Log V alidity This is a display to inform you of the event log validity . It is not a setting. Event Log Capacity This is a display to inform you of the event log capacity .
Chapter 7: BIOS 7-17 Console Redirection Access the submenu to make changes to the following settings. COM Port Address This item allows you to specify to redirect the console to Onboard COM A or Onboard COM B. This setting can also be Disabled . BAUD Rate This item allows you to select the BAUD rate for console redirection.
7-18 S UPER S ERVER 6015B-3/6015B-T User's Manual Hardware Monitor Logic Note: The Phoenix BIOS will automatically detect the type of CPU(s) and hardware monitoring chip used on the motherboard and will display the Hardware Monitoring Screen accordingly .
Chapter 7: BIOS 7-19 Hardware Monitor Logic CPU T emperature Threshold (See note on page 7-18.) This option allows the user to set a CPU temperature threshold that will activate the alarm system when the CPU temperature reaches this pre-set temperature threshold.

Chapter 7: BIOS 7-21 IPMI (This option available only when an IPMI card is installed in the system.) IPMI Speci fi cation V ersion: This item displays the current IPMI V ersion. Firmware V ersion: This item displays the current Firmware V ersion.

Timer for Loading OS (Minutes) This feature allows the user to set the time value (in minutes) for the previous item: OS Boot W atch Dog by keying-in a desired number in the blank.
Chapter 7: BIOS 7-23 Realtime Sensor Data This feature display information from motherboard sensors, such as temperatures, fan speeds and voltages of various components.
