4 THE SINGING MACHINE KARAOKE GLOSSAR Y OF TERMS In addition to all of the terminology associated with consumer electronics products, a few additional terms are used almost exclusively in karaoke. These terms are meant to familiarize you with the world of Karaoke.
5 INTRODUCTION Y our SMG-299 Compact Disc + Graphics Karaoke Center will provide you with many years of fun and entertainment. It can let you be the “ star ” as you sing along with your favorite recordings and hear your voice with the music through the system ’ s speakers.

9 MAKING THE CONNECTIONS CONNECTING POWER - PLEASE BE SURE THE AC MAIN POWER SWITCH (LOCA TED ON THE BACK P ANEL) IS SWITCHED TO THE ON POSITION. Y ou can power the system from a standard 120V or 230V AC outlet by using the supplied power cord.
10 DC JACK OPERA TION : 12V to 14V maximum. Please have the sample CDG demo disc provided with your Singing Machine playing in the Singing Machine when you are making these connections so you will see the lyrics on the screen as soon as you have the setup completed correctly .
11 RE AR VIE W OF SET (AUDIO IN) L & R Another Audio Compone nt A TTENTION: ELECTRONIC MASTER VOLUME TOUCH CONTROL T o avoid damaging this control, please twist the master volume control gently to the right or left to obtain a desired level setting.
12 CD OR CD+G OPERA TION PREP ARA TION This unit is designed to play CD s bearing the identification logo. If CD s do not conform to the CD standard, they may not properly play . Fingerprints and dust should be carefully wiped off with a soft cloth.
13 STOP Mode If the STOP button is pressed in the course of playing, the disc will cease to play . (The total track number will be shown on the LCD display). SKIP PLA Y (For both CD and CDG discs) When playing any CD disc or during stop mode, you can skip up or down to your desired track number by pressing the SKIP buttons( SKIP ).
14 CASSETTE OPERA TION Loading and Unloading Cassettes Follow these steps to load and unload 1. Press the STOP/EJECT button. 2. Insert a cassette with desired side facing you, tape surface down. Avoid touching tape. 3. Close cassette holder/tape deck cover .
15 ADDING EXTRA VOICE(S) / DUBBING OR COPY- ING 1. Load your previously recorded tape into tape Deck 2. 2. Load another blank tape into T ape Deck 1. 3. Follow Steps 4 and 5 for Recording Sing Along. Y our voice will again be added, allowing you to sing duets with your own voice.
16 CARE AND MAINTENANCE POWER SWITCH After using the SMG-299, turn off the power by pressing the power switch. CLEANING THE UNIT Use a clean soft cloth moistened with plain luke- warm water and wring dry . Never use benzol, ben- zene or other strong chemical cleaners since these could damage the finish or your unit.
17 TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE If you have followed the instructions and are having difficulty operating the unit, locate the PROBLEM in the left column below. Check the corresponding POSSIBLE CAUSE column to locate the remedy to your problem. PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION No power plug connection at the AC outlet.
