1 Ⅰ . Safety precautions The labels on the inverter and thi s instruction manual contain i m portant in structions for the prevention o f possible injury to the user and other persons and da mage to property , as well as for the safe u se of the inverte r.
2 ■ Hand ling in ge neral Danger Refe rence Never Disassemble Never dis assemble, modif y or repair th e inverter. Its disa ssembly co uld cause an elect ric shoc k, afire o r an injury.
3 ■ Transpor tati on ・ Installation Danger Refe rence Prohibited -Do not install or operate the inverter if it is damaged or any part is missi ng from it. Operating the inver ter in a defe ctive condition could lead to a shock or a fire.
4 ■ Wiring Danger Refe rence Prohibited -Do not connect the power cable to any output terminal (U/T1, V/T2 or W/T3 on the mo tor side), o r the invert er could b reak dow n and cause a fire. -Do not connect a resistor t o an y D.C. terminal (betw een P A an d PC or PO and PC), or the inverter could cause a fire.
5 ■ About operation Danger Refe rence Prohibited -Do not touch any inv erter's termin al wh en it is energized ev en if the motor is standstill, or y ou could get a shock. -Do not operate switches with a wet hand or not put a wet cloth on the inverter , o r you could get a shock .
6 When selecting the ret r y mode (A pplicable to in verters) Warn ing Refe rence Mandatory -Do not get near the motor . When the retry mode is selected, the motor and machine that stopped after an alarm restart unexpect edly after the selected ti me has passed, thus causing injury to persons.

A-11 1.4.2 Notes on inverters Over-current protective function The inv erter has an over-curr ent protective func tion. T he current for this protection is adjuste d to the m aximum current rating of the ap plicable m otors by default.
A-12 1.4.3 Influences of lea kage curr ents and measures against it (1) Influences of a current leaking into other systems via the ground An electr ic curren t can leak not only into other c ircuits of an invert er but als o into other inverter s through grounding wires.

A-14 1.4.4 Notes on inst allation ■ Installation environment The VF- A7 invert er is an elec tronic con trol device. Therefore, due considerat ion should be gi ven to its installat ion envir onment. Danger Prohibited -Do not put any inflammable ma terial near the inverter , or it could catch a fire if the inverter sp arks because of trouble .
A-15 ・ Avoid i nstalling t he invert er in a hot , damp, or dusty plac e, a place subjec t to free zing or water splash, or a place full of me tal chips. ・ Do n ot ins tall the inverter where t here are gases that c orrode m etal or solvents th at adversel y affect plastic .
A-16 ■ Installation D a n g e r Prohibited - Do not install or operate the inverter if it is damaged or an y part is missing from it. Operating the inverter in a defective condition c ould lead to a shock or a fire. Request your T oshiba dealer fo r repair .
A-17 ■ Calorifi c v alues of invert ers and amount of air to be v enti lated The VF- A7 series of inverter loses about 5% of ener gy when switc hing elec tric currents f rom AC, DC, then t o AC.
A-18 ■ Co ntrol panel designed in consideration of possible influences of noise Inverters produce hi gh-frequenc y noise. T o avoid i nfluences of noise, measur es mus t be t ak en in desig ning a co ntrol panel. Here are som e exam ples of measur es against no ise.
