Make sure you‟re not u sing passive speakers that require an amplifier. The Riviera a nalog outputs can only drive powered speakers, not passive speakers.
User’s Guide 10 U SING THE R IVIERA P LA YING DIGIT AL MUSIC WITH W INDO WS M EDIA P LA YER Once you‟ve confirmed that the speakers are operating properly , launch Windows Media Play er and play some music file s from your digital song library.

This sends the stereo signal pro cessed by reverb to the surroun d speakers. You can adjust the amount of this effect with the Surround spe aker volume controls in the S peaker Tab.
