[ 23 ] BASICS On the han dset, you may also use the speak erphone while talking to an outsi de call. Usin g the handset speak erphone is called “ han ds-free conversati on ” . This feature allows you to easily communi cate while performing oth er tasks, such as cooking.
[ 24 ] PLACING A CALL ON HOLD 1) Durin g a call, pr ess (or on the base). 2) T o talk to the caller , press or on a handset (or (talk) on the base). Th e phone will return back to th e call. Y ou can hold a call for 5 min utes, when 5 min utes has passed, th e call is disconnected and the ph one returns to the standby mode .

[ 26 ] ADJUSTING THE EARPIECE AND HANDSET SPEAKER VOLUME Y ou can select different volum e levels for the han dset earpiece an d the handset speak er (4 levels: Low to Max). The volum e can only be adjusted during a call. Pr ess / or to select th e volume settings .
[ 27 ] TRA VELING OUT -OF-RANGE Durin g a call, as you begin to m ove your handset too far fr om your base unit, noise may in crease . If you pass the ran ge limits o f the base unit, you will hear a beep an d “ Out of Range ” appears, th en the handset r eturns to the standby m ode .
[ 28 ] NEW MESSAGE LED The ne w message LED on the han dset is design ed to work with your answering system. The LED flash es when you have new m essages in your answering system. The LED stops flashin g when all new messag es are played back (see “ Usin g your Answerin g System ” on page 49).
[ 29 ] PHONEBOOK Phon ebook allows you to dial a number usin g just a few key presses. Y our phon e stores nam es/numbers in th e phonebook m emory location, an d you can search n ames in alphabetical or der . Y ou have a total of 100 location s that can be used for th e phonebook (in cluding the Speed di als) and Caller ID messag es.

[ 31 ] STEPS FOR ENTERING NAMES AND SPECIAL CHARACTERS Refer to the letters on th e number keys to select th e desired characters . With each press o f a number key ( - ), the displayed char acter appears in the followin g ord er: Upper case letters first, lower case letters next an d finally the number correspon ding to the k ey .

[ 36 ] CHAIN DIALING Th e m emory location s in the handset are n ot limited to phone n umbers. Y ou can also store a gr oup of numbers (up to 20 di gits), that you need to enter once your call connects . This is referred to as Chain Di aling. An ex ample of this is a bank account n umber .
[ 37 ] CALLER ID Y ou must subscribe to Caller ID service to use this featur e. When th e telephone rin gs, the Caller ID feature allows you to vi ew the caller ’ s name and phon e number in the display bef ore you answer the ph one . Additi onally , you can dial the displayed number an d store the inf ormation for m emory dialin g.
[ 38 ] VIEWING THE CALLER ID LIST Th e Caller ID list stor es informati on for incoming calls – even unan swered calls. Y ou can store 100 o f the Caller ID messag es and Ph onebook location s (includin g Speed Dials) in total. Y ou can view the Caller ID list d uring a call or when th e phone is in th e standby mode .
[ 39 ] Deleting a Caller ID message 1) Wh en th e phone is in th e standby mode , view the Caller ID inform ation to be deleted (see “ Viewin g the Caller ID List ” on page 38). 2) Press the DELETE soft key . “ Delete Caller ID ” appears. 3) Press / or to choose “ Yes ” .

[ 41 ] THE INTEGRA TED ANSWERING DEVICE Th e ph one has a built-in answerin g system that answers and recor ds incoming calls . Y ou can also use your answerin g system to record a conversati on, leave a voice m emo messag e, or to ann ounce a special outgoin g message to callers wh en you ’ re away fr om your ph one .
[ 42 ] • Wh en th e answering system is full, “” appears on the base . Y ou should delete some m essages so that the system can recor d new messages . TURNING THE ANSWERING SYSTEM ON/OFF 1) T o turn the an swering system On, press in th e standby mod e.
[ 43 ] Choosing between the tw o outgoing messages Wh en th e phone is in th e standby mode , press . Press again when the outg oing messag e is played. Each time is pr essed, the outgoin g message is switched between th e pre-recor ded and the person al outgoing m essage .

[ 46 ] Setting the ring time Th e rin g time setting allows you to set th e number of rings th e caller hears befor e your answerin g system plays the outgoin g message .

[ 49 ] USING YOUR ANSWERING SYSTEM Th e m essage counter displays th e number of messag es stored in mem ory . If the display flashes , then ther e are new messag es waiting for you. Th e answering system is d esigned to play your new m essages first.
[ 50 ] Skipping a message 1) Pr ess to review your messag es. The n umber of stored m essages is announ ced. 2) Press /SELECT at an ytime to skip to the n ext message . Each time /SELECT is pressed , the system scans f orward on e message . If you have several m essages, pr ess /SELECT r epeatedly to find th e message you want to play .
