GETTING ST ARTED [ 7 ] • Even when th e battery pack is not bein g used, it will grad ually discharg e over a long peri od of tim e . For optimum perform ance , be sure to return th e handset to th e base unit after a telephon e call.
GETTING ST ARTED [ 8 ] Place the power cord so that it does n ot create a trip hazard or wher e it could become chafed and cr eate a fire or electrical hazard . 2) Set the base on a d esk or tabletop, and place th e handset on th e base unit as shown.

Standard w all plate mounting This phon e can be moun ted on any stan dar d wall plate . 1) Plug the A C adapter in to the DC IN 9V jack. 2) Wrap th e AC ad apter cord in sid e the m olded wirin g channel as sh own. 3) Plug the A C adapter in to a stand ard 120V A C wall outlet.

Setting Caller ID Options GETTING ST ARTED [ 12 ] Ther e are thr ee Caller ID setup option s available . They ar e AutoT alk, CIDCW (Caller ID on Call Waitin g), and Area Cod e . See page 13 f or Area Cod e setup instru ction s. AutoT alk allows you to answer the ph one with out pressin g the talk button.

BASICS [ 16 ] T raveling Out-of-Range During a call, as you begin to m ove your handset too f ar from your base unit, n oise incr eases. If you pass the r ang e limits of th e base unit, your call will terminate within 30 secon ds.
[ 17 ] MEMOR Y DIALING BASICS • In mem ory dialin g operati on, you must pr ess a key within 20 seconds or th e phon e will return to standby . If you return the han dset to the base , the phon e will return to standby also. • Y ou have 20 seconds after pressin g m to enter th e number you wish to store .
MEMOR Y DIALING [ 18 ] The pause featur e is useful for lon g distance callin g, credit car d dialin g, or sequences that requir e a pause between digits . Steps for Entering Names and Special Characters Refer to the letters on th e number k eys to select the d esired char acters.

MEMOR Y DIALING [ 20 ] Chain Dialing The 10 m emory locati ons on th e handset ar e not limited to ph one n umbers. Y ou may want to stor e in mem ory a group o f numbers (up to 20 di gits) that you need to en ter once your call conn ects. This is r eferred to as Chain Dialin g.

CALLER ID FEA TURES [ 23 ] • In Caller ID operati on, if no k ey is pressed f or mor e than 20 seconds , an error ton e sounds an d the telephon e return s to the standby m ode . • If a call comes in via a telephon e system that does n ot offer Caller ID service , no inform ation is stored .
