Follow these steps: About the digital security code This cordless teleph one uses a digital security code to pr event unauth orized access to your base unit. This security code pr events other cor dless handsets from m aking calls through your base unit.

GETTING STARTED [ 16 ] Entering Y our Ar ea Code If you enter a 3-di git area code n umber in the “ Area Code ” option, your local ar ea code does n ot appear in Caller ID messages . For calls received from outsi de your local area cod e, you will see a full 10-digit n umber .

On the han dset, you may also use the speak erphone while talkin g on your phone . Usin g the han dset speakerphon e is called “ hands-free conversati on ” . This featur e allows you to easily communi cate while performing oth er tasks, such as cookin g.
BASICS BASICS [ 1 9 ] Redialing a Call The last thr ee phone n umbers dialed can be quickly r edialed. Redialing from Standb y Mode 1) Press r edial/p . The phon e number that was last dialed appears on the display . 2) Press r edial/p again. Each press of r edial/p will display one o f the last three n umbers dialed.
[ 20 ] 1) When the ph one is in the stan dby mode , press menu/mute . 2) Press + or - to move the poin ter to “ Ringer Volume ” . 3) Press select/ch . 4) Press + or - to move the poin ter through the rin ger settings (Ring er Off, Ringer Low , or Ringer Hi gh).
BASICS [ 21 ] BASICS • See ” Storing Phone Numbers, N ames, Distinctive Rings , and Speed Dial ” on page 25 for storing a Distin ctive Ring in the Ph onebook. “ Distinctive Rin ger ” allows you to preset m emory location s with a design ated ring tone .
[ 22 ] Adjusting the Earpiece and Handset Speaker V olume Y ou can select differen t volume levels for th e handset earpiece an d the handset speak er (V olume Low , V olume M edium, Volum e High, and V olume M aximum). Th e volume can only be adjusted durin g a call.
BASICS [ 23 ] T one Dialing Switch-over Some teleph one companies use equipm ent that requir es pulse dialing (som etimes referr ed to as rotary di aling). If you need to en ter tone dialin g digits, you can switch-over to tone di aling durin g the call.
BASICS [ 24 ] • If the handset battery is completely drain ed, the handset will not beep when paging. Find Handset T o locate the han dset, press find handset on the base when th e base is in the stan dby mode . The han dset beeps for 60 seconds , and “ Paging ” appears on the handset display .
PHONEBOOK [ 2 5 ] PHONEBOOK Phon ebook allows you to dial a number usin g just a few key presses . Y our phon e stores nam es/numbers in the ph onebook mem ory location, and you can sear ch nam es in alphabetical ord er . Y ou have a total of 100 locati ons that can be used for th e phon ebook (includin g the Speed dials) an d Caller ID messages .

PHONEBOOK [ 33 ] Chain Dialing The m emory location s in the handset ar e not limited to phon e numbers. Y ou can also store a gr oup of numbers (up to 20 di gits), that you need to enter on ce your call connects . This is referred to as Chain Di aling.
[ 34 ] CALLER ID Y ou must subscribe to Caller ID service to use this feature . When th e telephone rin gs, the Caller ID featur e allows you to view the caller ’ s name and phon e number on the display bef ore you answer th e phone . Ad ditionally , you can dial the displayed number an d store the inf ormation f or memory di aling.
CALLER ID CALLER ID [ 3 5 ] V iewing the Caller ID List The Caller ID list stor es informati on for incomin g calls – even unanswer ed calls. Y ou can store 100 o f the Caller ID messag es and Phon ebook locations (in cluding Speed Di als) in total.
CALLER ID [ 36 ] Once the Caller ID data has been deleted , the inform ation cannot be retrieved . Deleting a Caller ID message 1) When the ph one is in the stan dby mode , and while th e incomin g Caller ID informati on is displayed, press xfer/del .
CALLER ID CALLER ID [ 3 7 ] • Y ou cannot mak e a call from the Caller ID list if your phone is conn ected to a private branch exchan ge (PBX). • When a long distan ce call has been set, “ 1 ” appears in the display . • If a call comes in via a telephone system that does not o ffer Caller ID service , no inform ation is stored.
CALLER ID [ 38 ] • T o activate features, select “ CW Deluxe On ” in the Caller ID setup. See page 15. • Y ou can also answer a waiting call immedi ately by pressing t alk/flash , the first caller will be placed on hold. T o r eturn to the origin al caller , press talk/flash again.
EXP ANDING YOUR PHONE [ 3 9 ] EXP ANDING YOUR PHONE Y ou cannot register th e handset when th e original ph one is in use . Y our phon e supports up to 2 handsets (the ori ginal handset an d the second han dset). Y ou can now place a fully featur ed cordless handset an ywhere A C power is available to connect the han dset charger .
EXP ANDING YOUR PHONE [ 40 ] T o tr ansfer a call (to the second handset) 1) Press xfer/del on th e handset durin g a call. The call will automati cally be placed on hold and th e transfer ton e will sound . 2) When the oth er handset receives th e call, the tran sfer tone stops.

ADDITIONAL INFORMA TION [ 4 3 ] ADDITIONAL INFORMA TION Y ou will need to re- register the ad ditional handset each time you change th e digital security code of th e original unit. The di gital security code is an id entificati on code used to connect th e handset and th e base unit.
