3 S AFETY I NFORMA TION AND U SEFUL T IPS Safety Information • Disconnect mains plug when : – the red light belo w the TV screen is flashing contin uously . – a bright white line is displa y ed across the scr een. – cleaning the TV screen. Never use abrasiv e cleaning agents.
4 B EFORE C ALLING S ER VICE Below is a list of frequentl y occurr ed symptoms. Befor e you call f or ser vice, make these simple checks. Some of these symptoms can easily be r ectified if you know what to do . Symptom What y ou should do Colour patch • Switch off the TV by the mains pow er button.
5 Antenna Connection • Connect the aerial plug to the antenna socket ¬ ¬ ¬ ¬ ¬ on the backcov er . • Insert the mains plug into the wall socket. Mains Connection • For corr ect mains v oltage, refer to type stick er at the rear of the TV set • Consult your dealer if mains suppl y is different.
6 Y ou can view the playbac k of VCR tapes (Video Disc players , camcorders , etc .) by using the A UDIO and VIDEO INPUT sockets on the r ear of the TV . – Connect the VIDEO and AUDIO IN sock ets on the rear of the TV to the AUDIO and VIDEO OUT sock ets on the VCR.
7 C ONNECTING THE A UDIO /V IDEO S OCKETS (P LA CKBA CK ) For more con venient direct playbac k connections, the Side Audio/Video Input soc k ets allow for quick and easy connections, par ticularly Camcor der tape recor dings . – Connect the VIDEO sock et from the Camcorder to the Side VIDEO in socket of the TV .
8 C ONNECTING THE A UDIO /V IDEO S OCKETS (R ECORDING ) Connection for r ecording from the TV channel – Connect the corresponding INPUT sock ets of the VCR to the MONIT OR OUTPUT sockets on the r ear of the TV . – T o enhance the sound of your TV , connect the AUDIO L and R sockets to an external audio system instead of the VCR.
9 & P o wer button – Switch set off temporarily to standb y mode . (The red light indicator lights up when the set is on standby mode). – T o switch on set from standb y mode , press Channel +/– , Digit (0 -9) or Po wer button.

16 S ELECTING THE C OLOUR /S OUND S YSTEM This feature allo ws you to select your desir ed Colour and Sound system. If Auto is selected, the respective colour and sound system will be automaticall y selected according to the transmission system. Note : Select your desir ed colour and sound system manually if reception is poor at Auto mode.
17 F INE T UNING OF C HANNELS This featur e allows you to adjust picture r eception in areas of weak r eception. Enter main menu. Pr ess button repeatedly until Install is selected. Enter install menu. Pr ess button repeatedly until Manual Stor e is selected.
18 S OR TING OF C HANNELS This featur e rearranges channel numbers. Enter main menu. Press button r epeatedly until Install is selected. Enter install menu. Press button r epeatedly until Sort is selected. Enter sort mode . Select the channel number y ou want to change from (e.
19 E DITING OF C HANNELS This featur e allows you to skip or edit channels which ha ve bad or w eak TV signal or channels that you do not watch often. Note : Once a channel is skipped, you cannot ha ve access to it by the CH (Channel) + or – button.
20 N AMING OF C HANNELS This featur e enables you to name or rename channels. Enter main menu. Press button r epeatedly until Install is selected. Enter install menu. Press button r epeatedly until Name is selected. Enter name mode . Select the channel you want to name .

22 A DJUSTING THE TV S OUND The sound menu allows y ou to make adjustments to the sound. Displa y the main menu on scr een. Select Sound menu. Enter Sound menu. Select item. 23 ¸ U SING THE T IMER The Timer feature allo ws you to set the timer to switch to another channel at a specified time while you ar e watching another channel or when the TV is on standby mode . Note : For the timer to function, the set must not be switched off.
24 U SING THE T IMER Select Stop Time . K ey in the time you want the programme to be s witched off. Select Channel . K ey in the channel y ou want to switch to . Select Activate . Activate timer . Y ou can select Once , Daily or Off . Select Displa y .
25 A CTIV A TING THE C HILD L OCK (A CCESS C ODE ) The Child Lock feature allo ws you to lock channels to prev ent your childr en from watching programmes y ou deem undesirable . Note : Y ou can only ha ve access to the lock ed channels via the remote control.
26 A CTIV A TING THE C HILD L OCK (C HANGE C ODE ) Note : Y ou need to key the access code only once. Repeat Steps 1 to 8 as The Child Lock menu will in “A CTIV A TING THE now appear . Y ou can proceed C HILD L OCK to change code. (A CCESS C ODE )” Select Change Code .
27 A CTIV A TING THE C HILD L OCK (L OCK C HANNEL ) Repeat Steps 1 to 8 as The Child Lock menu will in “C HILD Lock (A CCESS now appear . Y ou can proceed C ODE )” to lock channel. Enter lock channel mode . Select the channel you want to lock. Activate blocking of channel.
28 A CTIV A TING THE C HILD L OCK (L OCK A LL ) Y ou can choose to lock all channels in the Lock All mode in the Child Lock menu. Repeat Steps 1 to 8 as The Child Lock menu will in “C HILD Lock (A CCESS now appear . Y ou can proceed C ODE )” to lock all channels.
29 U SING THE S CREEN F ORMA T Y ou can hav e a choice of two formats for y our viewing pleasur e , namely : - 4:3 mode and the EXP AND 4:3 mode through the FORMA T menu. Displa y the main menu on scr een. Press button r epeatedly until F eatures is selected.
30 S MAR T P ICTURE C ONTROL Whether you ar e watching a movie or video game , your TV has automatic video control settings matched to your cur rent pr ogram source or content.
31 S MAR T S OUND C ONTROL Whether y ou are watching a movie or video game, your TV has automatic sound control settings matched to your cur rent pr ogram source or content.
32 P ERSONAL Z APPING A list or series of fa vourite TV programs can be selected and stor ed in the 4 coloured buttons with the P ersonal Zapping featur e . With this feature you can easil y viewed up to a total of 10 prefer red channels f or each coloured button.
33 A UT OMA TIC P ICTURE B OOSTER If the transmission signal is weak, the Automatic Picture Booster built into the TV set will increase the signal le vel to provide a good pictur e at all time . Y ou hav e a choice to turn on/off the featur e, depending on the signal conditions locally .
34 R O T A TION Note: Applicable to certain models only . Due to the earth’ s magnetic field and position of the TV , there ma y be a slight tilting of the picture to the left or right when the set is s witched on. When this phenomena accurs, select Rotation in the Featur es menu and adjust accordingly .
35 U SING T HE T ELETEXT If a TV channel broadcast contains teletext inf ormation, each channel that broadcasts teletext transmits a page (index page) with information on how to use the teletext system, usually on page 100. The system transmitted is indicated in the option line at the bottom of the screen.
36 U SING T HE T ELETEXT § Interrupt Press the button to change to TV mode. Press the button again to return to teletext mode and to the teletext page. è Enlarge Pr ess the button once to enlarge and view the top half of the page.
