6 Unpacking and Examining Y our Micr owave Oven Remove all packing materials from inside the microwave oven cavity; however , DO NOT REMOVE THE WA VEGUIDE COVER, which is located on the right cavity wall. Read enclosures and SA VE the Installation/Use and Car e Manual.
7 See built-in trim kit installation instructions for proper location when building in above the specified ovens. Carefully follow both the oven installation instruc- tions and built-in trim kit instructions.
8 This appliance must be gr ounded. This microwave oven is equipped with a cord having a gr ounding wir e with a grounding plug. It must be plugged into a wall receptacle that is pr operly installed and grounded in accor dance with the National Electrical Code and local codes and or dinances.
9 This Installation/Use and Care Manual is valuable: r ead it car efully and always save it for r eference. A good microwave cookbook is a valuable asset.
10 Eggs, sausages, nuts, seeds, fruits & vegetables • Puncture egg yolks before cooking to pr event “explosion”. • Pierce skins of potatoes, apples, squash, hot dogs and sausages so that steam escapes. • Use specially bagged popcorn for the micro- wave oven.
11 About Utensils and Coverings It is not necessary to buy all new cookwar e. Many pieces already in your kitchen can be used successfully in your new microwave oven.
12 How to use aluminum foil in your micr owave oven: • Small flat pieces of aluminum foil placed smoothly on the food can be used to shield ar eas that are either defrosting or cooking too quickly . • Foil should not come closer than one inch to any surface of the micro- wave oven.
13 • Check foods to see that they are cooked to the United States Depar tment of Agricultur e's r ecommended temperatur es. To test for doneness, insert a meat thermometer in a thick or dense area away from fat or bone. NEVER leave the thermometer in the food during cooking, unless it is approved for micr owave oven use.

16 Befor e Operating This is a 12 hour clock. If you attempt to enter an incorr ect clock time, ERROR will appear in the display . T ouch the Stop/Clear pad and re-enter the time.
17 Time Cooking Y our microwave oven can be programmed for 99 minutes and 99 seconds (99.99). Always enter the seconds after the minutes, even if they are both zeros. • Suppose you want to cook for 5 minutes at 100%. Manual Operation PROCEDURE 1. Enter cooking time.
18 Manual Defrost If the food that you wish to defrost is not listed on the Super Defr ost and Auto Charts or is above or below the limits in the “Amount” column on the Super Defrost and Auto Charts (pages 34 and 35), you need to defr ost manually .
19 SENSOR OPTIONS The Viking Sensor is a semi-conductor device that detects the vapor (moisture and humidity) emitted fr om the food as it heats. The sensor adjusts the cook- ing times and power level for various foods and quantities. Using Sensor Settings: 1.
20 allow steam to escape. Plastic wrap should not touch food. 3. W ax paper: Cover dish completely; fold excess wrap under dish to secure. If dish is wider than paper , overlap two pieces at least one inch to cover . Be careful when r emoving any covering to allow steam to escape away from you.

24 COOKING Y our microwave oven has 6 convenience pads to assist with meal preparation. There ar e some foods in the Breakfast, Lunch, 15 Minute Dinners and Pr eset Recipes that use the sensor . See the sensor cooking information on page 19. For foods not using the sensor , follow the directions in the Interactive Display to enter quantity .

32 4. TUNA MACARONI 1 To cook macaroni: Place in 3-quart casserole: 6 cups very hot tap water Cover. Touch Preset Recipes, number 4 to select TUNA MACARONI and then touch Start/Touch On. 2 At pause, add: 2 cups elbow macaroni 1 teaspoon salad oil Do not cover.
33 DEFROST Defrost automatically defr osts all the foods found in the Super Defrost and Auto Defr ost Charts. Super Defrost Super Defr ost rapidly defrosts specific foods and weights found in the Super Defrost Chart (number 1-3). For these choices, it is not necessary to enter weight.
34 Note for Super Defrost: Super Defrost pr ovides just enough defrosting that the foods can be used in r ecipes or for cooking. Ther e will be some ice crystals remaining.

36 Beverages Beverages enables you to r eheat coffee or tea to a mor e suitable drinking temperatur e or to make instant coffee or tea. • Suppose you want to r eheat 2 cups of coffee. Note: 1. Beverages can be pr ogrammed with More or Less Time Adjustment.
37 Wa rm / Hold Wa rm /Hold allows you to keep food warm up to 30 minutes. To use, simply touch the Warm/Hold pad and enter the appropriate time (up to 30 minutes). Y ou can also program W arm/Hold with manual cooking to keep food warm continuously after cooking.
