4 5 Connecting P ower to Base Unit Choose a location for the base near an electrical outlet and a telephone jack. This phone requires a modular tele- phone jack and a standard electr ical outlet (110V AC) not controlled by a wall switch.
4 5 Setup Check f or Dial T one After the batter y is charged, connect the modular telephone cord between a live phone jack and the jack located on the bottom of the base unit. Pic k up the handset and press ON . Y ou should hear a dial tone . CA UTION: Use only the VT ech power supply provided with y our telephone.
6 7 Handset Features ( ) • When phone is not in use, press to display directory entr ies. • Dur ing a call, press to increase listening vol- ume. A double beep will sound when you reach the highest setting. ON/FLASH • Press this button then dial the number to make a call.

8 9 Set Handset Ringer Style Y ou can select from f our traditional ringers, ve musical ringers, or turn the ringer OFF . 1. Make sure the handset is OFF . 2. Press PROG . 3. Press until the screen displays RINGER : and the current setting. 4. Press SELECT .
8 9 Y ou can retrieve your voicemail messages from any telephone. If the indicators remain on after all new messages ha ve been re viewed, you can turn them off manually: 1. Make sure the handset is OFF . 2. Press PROG . 3. Press or until the screen displays MESSA GES W AITING.

10 11 Y ou can store as man y as nine telephone numbers with names (up to 15 characters and 24 digits in each location) you dial frequently into the speed dial memor y locations you assign in the handset. NO TES : 1. The entries you store in speed dial memor y will be marked 01 through 09 in the telephone directory .
