Step 2 12 2. Connect a network cable between each of your PCs and the Gatewa y Router Plug a Network cable into the Ethernet port on eac h of the other PCs and then to one of the ports on the rear of the Gatewa y Router labeled LAN.
Step 2 13 4 . Po wer on the Cable or DSL modem. 5 . Connect the po wer adapter to the Router . 6. After the Cable or DSL modem and the Router are turned on, the Router ’ s W AN link light should be on. This indicates that the modem and the Belkin Gatewa y Router are connected together .
Step 3 STEP 3: Setup your computers for networking F or each computer , you connect to the Router you must make the correct network settings. Belkin has simplified this process b y providing y ou with the Belkin SOHO Networking softw are to configure your computers.

Step 3 19 4. In the "Computer Name" field type a name for the computer such as "Computer2". Remember , the name must be different from the other computers on the network. 5. T he workgroup name should be filled in with the name you entered on the previous computer .
Step 3 20 8. If you w ant to share files and printers on this computer , select "I want to share files and printers on m y computer" and click "Finish". If not, select "I do not w ant to share files and printers on my computer".
Step 3 21 V erify That Y our Computers are Networked Once you ha ve set up all of your computers, y ou can chec k to see if they are all "networked" together . 1. Starting with any computer , Double-Click on "Netw ork Neighborhood" on the desktop.
Step 4 22 STEP 4: C onfiguring your Belkin 4-P ort C able/DSL Gatew a y Router (the Router) Now that y ou ha ve y our computers "networked" together , you now can set up the Router to share the Internet connection.
Step 4 23 Accessing the W eb-Based Setup Utility 1. Using the computer that was originally connected directly to the Cable/DSL modem, launch y our browser . Note: Y ou can access the setup utility from any computer on the netw ork, however , use the original computer for this procedure at this time.
Step 4 24 Configuring Y our Router if Y our Pro vider Uses Dynamic IP Addressing (Skip to page 26 for static IP addressing and page 29 for PPP oE) F ollow this procedure if your ISP uses d ynamic IP addressing. 1. Click on "Initial Setup". T he following screen will appear: 2.
Step 4 25 3. Click "MA C Cloning/Entry" on the left-hand side of the screen. T he following screen will appear . 4. If your ISP assigned y ou a host name, enter the host name here. If not, lea ve this field blank. If your ISP binds the connection to a MA C address, you will need the Router to copy that MA C address.
Step 4 26 Configuring Y our Router if Y our Pro vider Uses Static IP Addressing If your ISP uses Static IP addressing, follo w this procedure. 1. Click on "Initial Setup".
Step 4 27 2. Select "Static IP Address" and click "Select". T he following screen will appear: 3. Enter your static IP address. 4. Enter your Subnet mask. 5. Enter the Gatewa y address. 6. Once you ha ve filled in all of this information, click "Enter".

Step 4 29 Configuring Y our Router if Y our Pro vider Uses PPPoE. If your ISP uses PPP oE, follow this procedure. 1. Click on "Initial Setup".
30 Step 4 2. Select "PPP oE" and click "Select". T he following screen will appear: 3. Enter User Name. 4. Enter your pass word. 5. Confirm your pass word. 6. Enter your service name. 7. Once you ha ve filled in all of this information, click "Enter".
31 Step 4 8. Click "MA C Cloning/Entry". T he following screen will appear: 9. Click "Clone MA C Address". T his will clone (copy) the MA C address of the first PC connected to the Router . T his will also ensure that the ISP , if it binds your connection to that MA C address, that it will remain activ e.
32 Step 4 Intrusion Detection On/Off T o access this feature, clic k on "Firew all" on the left side of the screen. T he Router can monitor any attempts to access y our network and alert you w hen it happens. If you want this feature to work, select "Enable".

34 Step 4 Client Filter Settings Click on "LAN Client Restrictions". T he Belkin Gatewa y Router can be configured to restrict Internet access to computers at specific da ys and times.
35 Step 4 Services LAN DHCP Settings Click on "LAN Services" to access this screen. Y our Belkin 4-P ort Cable/DSL Gatewa y Router allows you to specify an internal IP address. Y ou ma y also turn the DHCP service on and off. We recommend using DHCP service for the easiest setup of your network.
36 Set T ime Zone If you are using an y of the time-based functions of the Router such as Client Filtering, y ou will need to set the time zone you reside in for the function to work properly . Change P asswor d T he Router ships without a set password.
37 Step 4 Reset If the Router stops functioning properly , you can reset the Router . Y our settings will not be lost when y ou click on the RESET button. Y ou will be asked to confirm that you w ant to reset the Gateway Router . T he power light will begin blinking and the port lights ma y blink.
38 Step 4 Update Firmw are Belkin is constantly working tow ard improving the over all functionality of the Router and will from time to time offer firmware updates. Firmw are updates can be downloaded from the Belkin website. Click "F irmware Update" to chec k for the latest version of firmware.
39 T roubleshooting I cannot access the web-based Router setup utility when typing the correct address: 192.168.2.1 1. Accessing the Router setup utility can take up to 15 seconds. Be sure that you wait long enough. 2. Check the connection between the PC and the Router making sure that the network cable is connected to any port labeled LAN.
40 T roubleshooting T he W AN link LED is not on or I cannot connect to the Cable or DSL modem. My connection type is Static IP Address. I cannot connect to the Internet.
