Basic Printing 3 T urning off the Print er 1 T o t urn off the printer , press the POWER POWER POWER POWER b utton. When t he POWER lamp stops blinking, the pr inter is turned off. About th e Power Plug When removing the power plug after t uring off the printer , be sure to chec k that the POWER lamp is not lit.
Basic Printing 4 Loading P a per This section describes how to load paper in the auto sheet feed er and the cassette. Prin t Med ia to Avoi d Do not use th e fol lowin g types of paper . Usi ng such pap er wi ll not only pr oduce uns at isfactory results, but can also cause the printer to jam or malfunction.
Basic Printing 5 Us ing the Auto Sheet Feeder and the C assett e Y ou can load pape r in both the au to shee t feede r and cassette. Loading paper in the auto shee t feeder is easy , and is c o nvenie nt if you frequ ently switc h to and print on various sizes or types of paper.
Basic Printing 6 • Continuous print ing on the same type/size of paper by using both the auto sheet feed er and c ass ette togeth er If the au to sheet fee der or cassette runs out of paper, the paper s ource automatically switc hes to the othe r one .

Basic Printing 12 3 Adjust the size of the Cas se tte. When loading A5- or larger siz ed paper (nonstan dard-size paper: 203 mm/8 inches or more in leng th), exten d the cassette. When loading 5" x 7"- or smaller sized pap er (nonstandard-s i ze paper: l ess than 203 mm/8 in ches in length), do not extend the cassette.
Basic Printing 13 4 Load the paper. (Print side fac ing DOWN) Y ou can use ge neral copy pap er o r Cano n’s Su per Wh ite Pape r. Y ou c an load up to 150 sheets of plain paper (64 gsm or 17 lb, 13 mm or 0.52 inches in height) in the cassette.
Basic Printing 14 5 Inser t the C assette into the print e r. If the cassette has been extended to accommodate paper sizes larger than 5" x 7", the front edge of the cassette will extend beyond the front of the pr inter . 6 Prepare th e Paper Out put T ray.
