1 INTRODUCTION Pa r ental Control—W eb Content Filtering Y our Belkin Router ships with this powerful feature , unique in th e mark etplace , which gives you th e ability to restri ct an d monitor web surfin g from all PCs connected to it.
2 INTRODUCTION The P ar ental Control Manager Belkin P aren tal Con trol allows f or a paren t or man ag er if used in an offi ce , to be d esign ated as the P arental Con trol M anag er . This is a role completely separ ate from that o f the Router A d ministrator , which is establish ed separ ately when you set up your Router .
SETTING UP P ARENTAL CONTROL 3 A utomatic Setup The Router m ust be connected to th e In ternet bef ore settin g up P ar ental Con trol. If you have not set up th e Router to connect to th e In ternet, f ollow the steps in your Quick In stallation Gui d e to set up the Router bef ore attemptin g to set up Pa r e nt a l Control.
4 SETTING UP P ARENTAL CONTROL Manual Setup The Router m ust be connected to th e In ternet bef ore settin g up the P arental Contr ol feature . Follow the steps in the Qui ck Installati on Guid e to set up th e Router befor e attempting to set up th e P ar ental Con trol featur e .
SETTING UP P ARENTAL CONTROL 4. Y ou will be prompted to create a passwor d an d provi de an e-m ail add r ess to which chan ge n otifi cation s should be sen t. Enter th e e-m ail add ress you wish to use , and en ter a passwor d to be used by the P ar ental Con tr ol Man ager to m onitor the P ar en tal Contr ol functi on.
6 USING P ARENTAL CONTROL N ow that P aren tal Con trol is activated , objection able websites will now be blocked by th e P ar ental Con trol featur e . If a computer on th e network attempts to access a blocked website , a scr een will appear in th e web browser statin g that that page has been “Block ed by P ar ental Con trol” .

USING REPORTING 11 If you opt to subscribe to P aren tal Con trol’s Reportin g feature (an e xtra fee is r equired), you will be able to access r eports in two ways. Note: The Reporting screen is a tab on the Change Policy screen discussed previously.
12 SUBSCRIPTION RENEW AL A utomatic: When your P arental Con trol is 15 d ays from e xpirati on, th e Router will begin to prompt on ce per day f or r enewal. A dditi onally , an e-m ail will be sent statin g that it is time to r en ew , to avoid service disrupti on.
NOTE TO P ARENTAL CONTROL MANAGER 13 Belkin P aren tal Con trol uses a passwor d (differen t than the Router A d ministrator password) to con trol poli ci es for web blockin g on the In ternet. I t also uses an e-mail ad dr ess to n otify the P ar ental Con tr ol Man ager o f overrid es or attempts to bypass conten t filtering.
