3 REFRIGERATOR S AFETY Proper Disposal of Y our Old Refrigerator IMPORT ANT : Child e ntrapment and s uffocation are not problems of the past. Junked or abandon ed refrigerators are still dangerous – even if they wil l sit for “just a few days.
4 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Unpack th e Refrigerator Remove t he Packaging ■ Remove tape and glue residue fr om surfaces before turning on the refrigerator . Rub a small amount of liquid dish soap over th e adhesive w ith your fing ers. Wipe wi th warm wate r and dry .
5 Ele ct rica l R equ irem ents Befo re you move your r efrige rator into it s final l ocatio n, it is important to make sure you have the proper electrical connection : Recommended Gr ounding Method A 115 V olt, 60 Hz.
6 Refrig erator Door s TOOLS NE EDED: ¹⁄ ₄ " hex -he ad s ocket wr en ch, ⁵⁄ ₁₆ " hex-head socke t wr ench and a fl at-head screwdriv er . IMPORT ANT : Before you begin, t urn t he refrigerator con trol OFF . Unplu g refrigerator or di sconnect pow er .
7 Handle Removal (optional) 1. Apply firm pressure with your han d on the face of trim. S lide top t rim u p and b otto m trim down aw ay f r om handle. Lift trim pieces off shoulder screws. See Graphic 1. NOTE : So me models includ e accent pieces bet ween the handle and the han dle trim.
8 Conn ect the W ater Supply (on so me mo dels) Read all di rections carefully bef ore you begin. IMPORT ANT : ■ All inst allations must be in a ccordance with loc al plumbing code requirements . ■ Contact your dealer or Whirlp ool designated service company for proper installation and parts.
9 IMPORT ANT : Becau se air ci rculates between both sec tions, an y odors formed in one section will transfer to t he other . Y ou must thoroughly clean both section s to eliminat e odors. T o prevent odor transfer from food, wrap or cover foods tightly .
10 W a ter a nd I ce Disp ense rs (on so me mo dels) Depending on your model, you may have one or mor e of the following options: the ability to select either crushed or cubed ice, a sp ecial light that tur ns on when you use the di spenser , or a lock option to avoid acciden tal dispensi ng.
11 The Dispense r Light The disp enser ar ea h as a li ght. I t ca n be tu rned on manua lly by pressing the ON but ton at the right han d side of the con trol panel. The red indi cator above the ON bu tton will app ear . On some model s: Whenever y ou use the dispe nser the leve r will automati cally tur n the ligh t on.
12 3. T ake the n ew cartridge out of its pac kaging and remove protective cover from O-r ings. 4. Slide the c artridge cap onto t he new cartridge. See illust ration in Step 2. 5. With cart ridge cap in th e vertical position, pu sh the new fil ter cartri dge in to the ba se grille unti l it stops .
13 Style 2 T o T ur n the Ice Make r ON/OFF: The ON/OFF switch is located on t he top right side of the freezer compartment. 1. T o tur n the ice maker on, slide the con trol to the ON (left) positio n. NOTE : Y our ice maker has an au tomatic shutoff.
14 Flip-up Shelf (on so me mo dels) T o Raise or Lower the Shelf: 1. Raise the sh elf by pulling forw ar d on the lev er located at the bottom front of the shelf an d lift until t he shelf locks into the vertical posit ion. 2. Lowe r the shelf until it is latched secur ely in place.
15 Meat Stor age Guide Stor e most me at in origi nal w rapp ing as lon g as it i s ai rtig ht an d moisture-proof. Rewrap if neces sary . Se e the following chart for storage times. When s toring meat longer than the times gi ven, freeze the meat. Fr esh fish or s hellfish .

17 Do not al low the S tainless Steel Cleaner & Polish t o come int o contact wit h any plasti c parts such as th e trim pieces, dispenser cov ers or door gaskets. If accidental contac t does occur , clean p lastic part wi th a sponge and mild det er gent in warm wate r .

Remo ve light sh ield by remo ving the Philli ps scr ew on the to p of t he shield . Car eful ly rot ate th e shiel d until t he left tab ca n be ge ntly p ulled fr om the fr eezer wall.
19 T ROUBLESHOOTING T ry the solutions suggested her e first in order to av oid the cost of an unnec essary service call. Y our refrigerator will not operate ■ Is the power supply cor d unplugged? Plug into a grounded (ear the d) ou tlet .
20 ■ Has a large amount of ice just been removed? A llow 24 hours for ice maker to produce more ice. ■ Are the controls set correctly? See th e “ Using the Controls ” section . ■ Is there a water filter installed on the refrigerator? The filter may be clogged or installed incorrectly .
21 W ater or ice is leaking from the dispense r ■ Is the glass not being held under the ice dispenser long enough, causing the ice to spill? Hold the conta iner u nder the ice chut e for two to three seconds aft er r ele asing the dispen ser lever .
