8 Loading the T op R ack The to p rack is designed fo r cups, glasses, an d smaller items. (See r ecommended load ing patte rns shown.) 9 ■ Load soup, cere al, and serving bowls in t he rack in a variet y of ways d epending upon th eir size and s hape. Load bowls secur ely betwe en the r ows of tines. Do not nest bowls because the spray will not reach all sur faces. Utensil load ■ Load cookie sheet s, cake pans, and othe r lar ge items at the sides and back.
10 Cutlery Basket ( on some models) Use the c utlery basket to hold long items. Always unload or r emove the cutlery bas ket befor e unloading the racks to a void spilling water o n the cutlery . NOTE: Remov e the baske t and tip the conte nts onto a cutting board to unload.

16 Dra in Air G ap Check the drain ai r gap anytime you r dishwasher isn ’ t draining w ell. Some stat e or local p lumbing c odes r equire t he additio n of a drain a ir gap be tween a built-in dishwasher and the home drain system. I f a drain is clogg ed, the drain ai r gap prote cts your dishwashe r fr om water bac king up into it.
