6 Range COOKTOP USE Cooktop Co ntrols The control knobs can be set to anywhere betw een HI and LO. Push in a nd turn to se tting . On some mod els, the surfac e cook ing area locator shows which element is turned on . Use the following chart as a guide when settin g heat levels .
7 NOTE : On self-c leaning models, th e cooktop will not operate when the rang e is in a self- cleanin g mode. Cer ami c Gla ss (o n some mod els) The surface cooking a rea will glow red when an element i s on. It will cycl e on and off, at all setti ngs, to mainta in the selec ted heat level .
8 Lift-up C ooktop (o n some mod els) The lift- up cooktop provides e asy acces s for cl eaning be neath. Do not drop the cooktop. Da mage could occur to the fi nish and the cooktop frame. For more information, see t he “ General Cleani ng ” section.
9 ELECTRONIC OVEN CONTROL Ove n Indica tor Lights The indicat or lights are located alon g all 4 sides of th e display . The indicator lights light up or flash when the oven is in one of the follo win.
10 Cont rol Lock The Con tr ol Lock shuts down the cont rol panel pads t o avoid unintended use of the oven. When the control is l ocked, only th e Clock and Timer pads will function. T o Lock/Unlock Control: Before locking, make sure the oven and Timer are off.
11 OVEN USE Odors and smoke are normal when the oven is u sed the first few times, or when it is heavi ly soile d. IMPORT AN T : The health of some birds is extremely sens itive to the f umes gi ven of f. Expo sur e to t he fum es ma y r esul t in dea th to certain birds.
12 Meat Ther mo met er On models wit hout a temperatu re probe, use a meat thermometer to determine donenes s of meat, poultry and fish. The inter nal tempera ture, not appearance, should be used to determine doneness. A meat therm ometer is not supplied w ith this ap pliance .
13 T o Broil: 1. Press CUSTOM BROIL. The broil oven in dicator light will light up. 2. Press ST A RT/ENTER. The On and Heat oven indicator li ghts will li ght up. The temperature setting can be changed any time before or after press ing ST ART/EN TER.
14 RAN GE CARE Self-Cleaning Cycle (o n some mod els) IMPORT AN T : The health of some birds is extremely sens itive to the fumes give n off during the Sel f-Cleaning cyc le. Expos ure to the fume s may result in death to certain birds. Alway s move birds to another clos ed and well-ven tilated room.
15 Gene ral C lea ning IMPORT AN T : Before clean ing, make sure all controls are of f and the oven and cookt op are cool. Always follow label i nstructi ons on cle ani ng produc ts. Soap, wat er and a sof t cloth or sponge are suggested fi rst unless otherwise noted.
16 BURNER BOWLS (o n some m odels) Cleaning Method: ■ Solution of ¹₂ cup ( 125 mL) ammonia to 1 gal . (3.75 L) water: Soak for 2 0 minut es, then sc rub with stainl ess steel -wool pad. ■ Oven cleaner: Follow product labe l instruction s. ■ Mildly abrasive clean ser: Scrub with wet scou ring pad.
17 To R e m o v e : 1. Open the oven door . Insert door r emoval pins, in cluded with your ran ge, int o both hinge ha ngers. Do n ot r emove the pi ns while the door is removed from the range. 2. Slowly close the door until it r ests against the door r emoval pins.
18 TROUBLESHOOTING T ry the solut ions suggested here first in order to avoid the cost of an unnecessary service call. Nothing will operate ■ Is the power sup ply cor d unplug ged? Plug into a gr ounded outlet. ■ Has a household fuse blown, or h as a circuit br eaker tripped? Replace th e fuse or reset the c ircuit breaker .
