19 BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE SAFEGUARDING THE ENVIRONMENT • Your new appliance is designed exclusi vely for domestic use To get the most out of your new appliance, read the user handbook thoroughly. The handbook contains a description of the appliance and useful tips for storing food.
20 PRECAUTIONS AND GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS • Use the refrigerator compartment only for storing fresh food and beverages and use the freezer compartment only for storing frozen food, freezing fresh food and making ice cubes. • After installation, make sure that the appliance is not standing on the power supply cable.

22 REFRIGERATOR COMPARTMENT This appliance is equipped with a no frost system that does not require manual defrosting. The appliance is also provided with a ventilated system, thanks to which the internal temperature is to all intents and purposes uniform.
23 REFRIGERATOR COMPARTMENT INTERNAL FEATURES FRESH CONTROL COMPARTMENT This sliding compartment s tays colder than the rest of the refrigerator compartment to keep daily foods fresh longer. It can also chill bevera ges more quickly. It is proper fo r keeping dairy products, cold cuts, sausage and meat.
24 VEGETABLES DRAWER (depending on the model) Foods such as fruit and vegetables dehydrate when stored in direct contact with cold and dry air. The vegetables drawer keeps the tem perature and humidity adequate for storage of fruits and vegetables, preserving their natural characteris tics.
25 FREEZER COMPARTMENT After switching on the appliance, th e freezer compartment takes approxim ately 3 hours to reach a suitable temperature for frozen food storage. The freezer compartment, marked with the symbol , is used for storing fr ozen food and freezing fresh or cooked food.
26 ICE CUBES Your appliance has an ic e maker (depending on th e model) for making ice cubes quickly and easily. Important: • Make sure there is no ice in the trays before refilling the feeder. • Ice tray feeder and ice bin can be removed and food can be stored in their place.
27 GUIDE TO STORAGE AND THAWING OF FOOD PREP ARING FRESH FOOD FOR FREEZING It is important to wrap food so that no water, moisture , or vapour may penetrate; this avoids the transfer of odours and flavours throug hout the refrigerator and allows better storage of frozen food.
28 FOOD STORAGE CHART Storage time will vary acco rding to the quality of the food, the type of packaging or wrap used (moisture and vapour proof), and the storage temp erature (which should be -18°C).
29 MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING VACATION Before any cleaning or maintenance operation, unplug the appliance from the mains or disconnect the electrical power supply. Periodically clean the refrigerator and freezer compartments with a cloth and a solution of lukewarm water and neutral detergent specifically for refrigerator interiors .
