4 MICROW A VE OVEN SAFETY SA VE THESE INSTRUCTIONS • Do not operate any heating or cooking appliance beneath the microwave oven. • Do not mount microwave oven over or near any portion of a heating or cooking appliance. • Do not mount over a sink.
5 I NST ALLA TION I NSTRUCTIONS Before you begin operating the oven, car efully r ead the following instructions. 1. Empty the microwave oven and clean inside it with a soft, damp cloth. Check for damage such as a door that isn’t lined up corr ectly , damage around the door , or dents inside the oven or on the exterior .
6 INST ALLA TION INSTRUCTIONS E LECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS ( CONT . ) GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS • For all cord connected appliances: The microwave oven must be gr ounded. In the event of an electrical short circuit, gr ounding reduces the risk of electric shock by pr oviding an escape wire for the electric curr ent.

8 GETTING TO KNOW Y OUR MICROWA VE OVEN • Never cook or reheat a whole egg inside the shell. Steam buildup in whole eggs may cause them to burst, and possibly damage the oven. Slice hard-boiled eggs befor e heating. In rare cases, poached eggs have been known to explode.

12 GETTING TO KNOW Y OUR MICROWA VE OVEN S ETTING THE CLOCK When you first plug in your microwave oven, the display shows “ 0 ”. If the electric power ever goes off, the display will again show “ 0 ” when the power comes back on.
13 C OOKING A T HIGH COOK POWER 1. Put the food into the oven and close the door . 2. T ouch COOK TIME. Display will show “: 0.” 3. T ouch number pads for desired time. For example, for 10 minutes touch “1 0 0 0” 4. T ouch ST ART . 5. At the end of the cooking time: Display will show “END” and 3 tones will sound.
14 MICROWA VE OVEN USE C OOKING WITH MORE THAN ONE COOK CYCLE For best results, some r ecipes call for one cook power for a certain length of time, and another cook power for another length of time. Y our oven can be set to change from one power level to another automatically , for up to 3 cycles plus a defrost cycle.
15 MICROWA VE OVEN USE DIRECTIONS • Follow package directions. • Use a popcorn package which is made especially for microwave cooking. • Do not try to pop unpopped kernels. • Pop only 1 package at a time. • Do not leave the microwave oven unattended while popping popcorn.
16 MICROWA VE OVEN USE EZ-CHOICE COOKING FEA TURE CHART ( CONT . ) NOTE: If you touch an EZ-CHOICE featur e pad more than the times shown in this chart, the display r eturns to the first serving size. DIRECTIONS • Place in the center of the microwave oven on a paper towel.
17 MICROWA VE OVEN USE U SING AUTO DEFROST Y ou can defrost food by choosing a category and setting a weight. AUTO DEFROST has preset times and cook powers for 3 categories: Meat, Poultry , and Fish. 1. T ouch AUTO DEFROST . Once for Meat (DEF 1 will display), twice for Poultry (DEF 2 will display), three times for Fish (DEF 3 will display).
18 MICROWA VE OVEN USE U SING W ARM HOLD W arm Hold keeps hot, cooked food warm in your microwave oven. NOTES: • Food cooked should be covered during W arm Hold. • Pastry items (pies, turnovers, etc.) should be uncovered during W arm Hold. • Complete meals kept warm on a dinner plate should be covered during W arm Hold.
19 M ICROW A VE COOKING TIPS C OOKING G UIDE Amount of food • If you increase or decr ease the amount of food you prepar e, the time it takes to cook that food will also change. For example, if you double a recipe, add a little more than half the original cooking time.
20 M ICROW A VE COOKING TIPS ( CONT . ) Using aluminum foil Metal containers should not be used in a microwave oven. There ar e, however , some exceptions. If you have purchased food which is pr epackaged in an aluminum foil container , refer to the instructions on the package.
21 ANSWERS No. If you remove or turn over the turntable, you will get poor cooking results. Dishes used in your oven must fit on the turntable. Y ou can use a rack only if the rack is supplied with your microwave oven. If you use a rack not supplied with the microwave oven, you can get poor cooking performance and/or arcing.
22 If none of these items are causing your pr oblem, see the “Requesting Assistance or Service” section. PROBLEM The microwave oven will not run. Microwave cooking times seem too long. The turntable will not turn. The display shows a time counting down but the oven is not cooking.
