6 COOKTOP U SE Cooktop C ontrols The control knobs can be set to anywhere betw een HI and LO. Push in a nd turn to se tting . On some mod els, the surface cooking area locator shows which element is turned on . Use the following chart as a guide when settin g heat levels .
7 Lift-up C ooktop (on some mode ls) The lift- up cooktop provides e asy acces s for cl eaning be neath. Do not drop the cooktop. Da mage could occur to the fi nish and the cooktop frame. For more information, see t he “General Cleaning” s ection.
8 OVEN USE Odors and smoke are normal when the oven is u sed the first few times, or when it is heavi ly soiled . IMPORT AN T : The health of some birds is extremely sensi tive to the f umes given off. Expo sur e to t he fume s may r esult in death to certain birds.
9 Bakeware The bakeware mat erial affects cooking r esults. Follow manufacturer’ s recommendations and use t he bakeware size recommended in the recipe. Use the following ch art as a guide. Meat Th ermome ter On models without a temperature probe, use a meat thermometer to determine donenes s of meat, poultry and fis h.
10 Broil ing Broiling uses dir ect radiant heat to cook food. Changing the temperature when broili ng allows more precise control. The lower the tempera ture, the slower the cooking. Thi cker cuts and unevenly shaped pieces of meat, fish and pou ltry may cook better at low er broiling temperatures.
11 RANGE CARE Gene ral Clea ning IMPORT AN T : Before cleani ng, make sure all controls are of f and the oven and cookt op are cool. Always follow label i nstructio ns on cle ani ng produc ts. Soap, wat er and a sof t cloth or sponge are suggested fi rst unless otherwise noted.
12 STORAG E DRAW ER (on some models) Make sure drawer is cool and empt y before cleaning. For more information, see “Storage Draw er” section. Cleaning Method: ■ Mild d etergent Drawer Liner (on some models) Remove all st ored items from drawer and lift out dr awer liner .
13 Storage Drawer The storage drawer c an be removed. Before r e moving, make sure drawer is cool and empt y . To R e m o v e : 1. Pull the storage drawer straight back past the dra wer stop notch and th e end of the sid e rails. 2. Lift up the bac k of the drawer and pu ll the drawer out.
14 TROUBLESHOOTING T ry the solut ions suggested here fi rst in or der to avoid the cost of an unnecessary service call. Nothing will operate ■ Is the power sup ply cord unplug ged? Plug into a gr ounded outlet. ■ Has a household fuse blown, or h as a circuit br eaker tripped? Replace th e fuse or reset the circuit breaker .
