Introduction 14 Replacing the remote contr ol batteries 1. T o open the batter y co ver , turn the remote control o ver to view its back, push on the finger grip on the cover and slide it up in the direction of the arrow as illustrated. The cover will slide off.

Connection 17 Connection When connecting a sig nal source to the pr ojector , be sur e to: 1. T urn all equipment off bef ore making an y connections. 2.
Connection 18 • Many notebooks do not turn on their external vide o ports when connected to a projector . Usually a key combo like FN + F3 or CR T/LCD key turns the extern al displa y on/off. Locate a function key labeled CR T/ LCD or a function key with a monitor symbol on th e notebook.
Operation 19 Operation Star ting up the pr ojector 1. Plug the power cord into the pr ojector a n d into a powe r outlet. T urn on the power outlet switch (where fitted). Check that the PO WER indica tor light on t h e pr ojector lights o range after power has been applied.
Operat ion 20 Adjusting the pr ojected imag e Adjusting the pr ojection angle T o adjust the projector (MX716): 1. Press the quick-r elease button and lift the front of the pr ojector . Once the ima ge is positioned where y ou want it, release the quick-release button to lock the foot in position.
Operation 21 Fine-tuning the imag e size and clarity Corr ecting k eystone K eysto ning refers to the situation w here the pr ojected image is noticeably wider at either the top or bottom. It occurs when the pr oj ector is not perpendicular to the screen.
Operat ion 22 Using the menus The projector is equipp ed with On-Screen Displa y (OSD) menus for making various adjustment s and settings. Below is the ov er view of the OSD menu. The following example describes ho w to set the OSD language . 1. Press MEN U/EXIT on the pr ojector or remote contr ol to turn the O SD menu on.
Operation 23 Securing the pr ojector Using a security cable lock The projector has to be installed in a safe pl a ce to pr event theft. Otherwise, purchase a lock, such as the K ensington lock, to secure the pr ojector . Y ou can locate a K ensington lock slot on the rear side of the pr ojector .
Operat ion 24 If you f orget the passw ord If the passw ord function is activated, you will be ask ed to enter the six-digit password e ver y time y ou turn on the projector . If you enter the wrong passw ord, the passw ord err or message as pictured to the right displa ys lasting for 3 seconds, and the INPUT PA S S W O R D message follows.
Operation 25 Changing the passwor d 1. Open the OSD menu and go to the SYSTEM SETUP: Advanced > Security Settings > Change Password menu. 2. Press ENTER . The messag e “INPUT CURRENT P ASSW ORD” appears. 3. Enter the old passw ord. i. If the password is correct, another message “INPUT NEW P ASSW ORD” displa ys.
Operat ion 26 Switching input signal The projector can be connected to multiple de vices at the same time . How ever , it can only displa y one full screen at a time . When starting up, the pr ojector a utomatically sear ches for the a vailable signals.
Operation 27 Magnifying and sear ching for details If you need to find th e details o n the projected picture, magnify the pictur e . Use the direction ar row k eys for na vigating the picture. • Using the r emote control 1. Press ZOOM+ / ZOOM- to displa y the Zoom bar .
Operat ion 28 About the aspect ratio • In the pictures below , the black portions are inac tiv e areas and the white portions are activ e areas. • OSD menus can be displayed on those unused black areas. 1. Auto : Scales an image proportionally to fit the projector's nativ e resolution in its horizontal or vertical width.
Operation 29 Optimizing the imag e Using W all Color In the situation wher e you ar e projecting on to a co lor ed surface s uch as a painted wall which ma y not be white , the W all Color f eature can help correct the pr ojected picture’ s colors to pre vent possible color differen ce b etween the source an d projected pictur es.
Operat ion 30 7. When all settings ha ve been done, highlight Save Settings and press ENTER to store the settings. 8. The confirmation message “ Setting Sav ed ” dis pla ys. Fine-tuning the imag e quality in user modes According to the detected signal type, there are some user -definable functions available when User 1 or User 2 is selected.
Operation 31 3D Color Mana gement In most installation situations, color mana gement will not be necessar y , such as in classroom, meeting room, or lounge room situations where lights re main o n, or wher e building external windows allow da ylight into the room.
Operat ion 32 6. Press to highlight Gain and adjust its values to your pr eference by pr essing / . The contrast level of the primar y color y ou select will be affected. Ev er y adjustment made will reflect to the image immediately . 7. Repeat steps 3 to 6 for other color adjustments.
Operation 33 T o cancel the timer , perform the f ollo wing steps: 1. Go to the SYSTEM SETUP: Basic > Presentation Timer men u and highlight Off . Press ENTER . A conf irm a tion message displa ys. 2. Highlight Ye s and pr ess ENTER t o conf irm. Y ou will see the message “ Timer is Off ” displaying on the scr een.
Operat ion 34 1. Go to the SYSTEM SETUP: Basic > Panel Key Lock menu, and select On by pressing / on the projector or r emo te control. A confirmation message displa ys.
Operation 35 1. Press MENU/EXIT and then press / until the SYSTEM SETUP: Basic menu is highlighted. 2. Press to highlight MyScreen and press ENTER . 3. Repeat steps 2-5 in the "Using the r emote control" section to capture and vie w the captur ed picture.
Operat ion 36 Contr olling the pr ojector thr ough a LAN en vir onment Y ou can manage and control the pr ojector fr om one or more r emote co mputers when they ar e properly connected to the same local area network. Cable connection If y ou are in a DHCP en vir onment: 1.

Operation 39 Shutting do wn the projector 1. Pr ess POWER or OFF and a confirmation message will display pr ompting you . If you don't respond in a f ew seconds, the message will disappear .

Operat ion 48 Function Description Standby Settings Network Selecting On enables the function. The projector is able to pr ovide the network function when it is in standby mode .
Operation 49 Function Description Current System Status Source Shows the current signal source. Picture Mode Shows the s elected mode in the PICTURE menu. Resolution Shows the nativ e resolution of the input signal. Color System Shows input system format: NTSC, P AL, SEC A M, YUV , or RGB.
Maintenance 50 Maintenance Car e of the pr ojector Y our projector needs little maintenance. The on ly thing y ou need to do on a regular basis is to keep th e lens and case clean. Nev er remov e any par ts of the pr ojector except the lamp. Contact y our dealer if other parts need replacing.
Maintenance 51 Lamp information Getting to kno w the lamp hour When the projector is in operation, the durati on (in hours) of lamp usage is automatically calculated by the built-in timer . See "Setting Lamp Mode as Economic" below for more inf ormation on Economic mode.
Maintenance 52 Timing of r eplacing the lamp When the Lamp indicat or lights up red or a message a ppears suggesting it is time to replace the lamp , please install a ne w lamp or consult y our dealer . An old lamp ma y cause a malfunction in the pr ojector and in some instances the lam p may explode.
Maintenance 53 Replacing the lamp • T o r educe the risk of electrical shock, alwa ys turn the project or off and disconnect the power cord befor e changing the l amp. • T o reduce the risk of sev ere burns, allow the pr ojector to cool for at least 45 minutes before r eplacing the lamp.
Maintenance 54 5. Disconnect the lamp connector fr om the projector as illustrated (for the MX717). 6. Loosen the screw that secur es the lamp. 7. Lift the handle so that it stands up . 8. Use the handle to slowly pull the lamp out of the pr ojector .
Maintenance 55 9. As shown in the f igure, lower the ne w lamp. 10. Tighten the screw that secur es the lamp. 11. Ensure the handle is fully laid flat and locked in place. 12. Reconnect the lamp connector (for the MX717). • Loose screw ma y cause a bad connection, which could result in malfunction.
Maintenance 56 16. Connect the pow er and restart the projector . Do not turn the power on with the lamp cover r emoved. Resetting the lamp timer 17. After the startup logo , open the On-Sc r een Display (OSD) menu. Go to the SYSTEM SETUP: Advanced > Lamp Settings menu.
