® 3 S YSTEM O VER VIEW The HEARING HELPER ™ T our Guide System is a portable, high-performance, wireless system composed of the PFM T32 or T31 T ransmitter and PP A R35 Recei vers and designed for use in guided tour applications. The system allo ws one-way transmission of a tour guide’ s v oice to group members using an FM radio signal.

® 5 R O PTIONAL H EADPHONES AND E ARPHONES The optional HED 021 Lightweight Headphone is the standard headset for the T our Guide System. It of fers excellent sound quality and wearing comfort. The foam earpads may be remov ed and washed in a mild detergent, rinsed thoroughly , and air dried.

S AFETY I NFORMA TION H EARING S AFETY This product is designed to amplify sounds to a high volume le vel which could potentially cause hearing damage if used improperly . T o protect y our hearing and the hearing of others: Make sure the v olume is turned down before putting on the earphone or headphone.
® 7 1. Install two (2) AA batteries. If you’ re using rechar geable batteries, they must be char ged before using. 2. Plug the microphone cord into the “Mic” jack on top of the transmitter . 3. Place the transmitter in the belt clip case provided.
® 8 C HANGING THE PFM T32 F REQUENCY F IG . 4: PFM T32 F REQUENCY C HANGE By default, the T32’ s frequency is to set 75.7 MHz (Channel G). If you experience FM interference, or if you need to match a recei ver’ s frequenc y , it may be necessary to adjust the frequenc y on the T32.
® 9 Gain Control Adjustment If necessary , the microphone gain control on the T32 can be increased or decreased to meet the demands of specific listening applications. Instructions: 1. Open the battery compartment using a coin in the slot in the bottom of the transmitter .
® 10 U SING T HE PFM T31 T RANSMITTER Note: Before you begin, make sure you ha ve AA Alkaline batteries installed in the transmitter . See Battery Information on page 15. 1. Plug the microphone into the “mic” jack on top of the transmitter . 2. T urn the po wer on: Place the FM switch to the “On” position.

® 12 U SING THE PP A R35 R ECEIVER Note: Rechargeable batteries are shipped in a dischar ged state and must be charged o vernight before using. 1. Make sure there are two char ged AA batteries in the Recei ver . If batteries are not installed, see Battery Information on page 15.
® 13 – or – B EL T C LIP I NST ALLA TION FOR PP A R35 T O I NST ALL : Position the belt clip on the rear of the R-35 recei ver as sho wn in Figure 9a. T urn the belt clip 180º left or right as sho wn in Figure 9b . The belt clip is now installed and ready for use.
® 14 PP A R35 R ECEIVER F REQUENCY C HANGE I NSTRUCTIONS Selecting a frequency for the R35 recei ver requires an adjustment to the internal tuning coil. See figure belo w to locate the coil to be adjusted. A plastic tuning wrench (PL T 005) will be needed to adjust this recei ver’ s tuning coil.
® 15 B A TTERY I NFORMA TION I NST ALLA TION Open the battery compartment using a coin in the slot in the bottom of the recei ver or transmitter . Press the batteries into place, observing proper battery polarity .

® 17 U SING T HE O PTIONAL CHG 3512 B A TTERY C HARGER TO CHARGE THE PP A R35 R ECEIVER Before inserting the PP A R35 receivers into the char ger, be sure that each recei ver has NiMH batteries installed. Also, check to make sure the switch setting in the PP A R35 battery compartment indicates the “NiMH” setting.
® 18 H INTS FOR U SING THE S YSTEM Normal operating distance between the transmitter and recei ver is about 30 meters. The operating range will v ary in different b uildings and surroundings. In some locations, the signal may momentarily disappear . This is called a “drop-out” and is due to reflection and cancellation of the radio signal.
® 19 I N C ASE O F D IFFICUL TY If your T our Guide System is not working, check the follo wing: 1. Read thr ough the manual and user guide car efull y to v er ify proper setup and installation of y our system . 2. Make sure the batteries are fresh or completely char ged and that the “plus” and “minus” terminals are installed correctly .
