Read and follow all instructio ns in this m anual before at tempting to ope rate your law n mower.
4 • Never operat e the mo wer in wet grass. Always be sure of your footing . A slip an d fall can c ause serious personal injury. Kee p a firm hold on the handle and walk, nev er run. If you feel y ou are losing y our footing, RELEASE THE BLA D E CONTROL HANDLE IMMEDIATELY an d the blade will stop rota ting within three sec onds.
5 • Keep all n uts, bolts, and s c rews ti ght to be s ure the equipme nt is in safe work ing cond ition. • Never ta mper with sa fety devic es. Check their proper operation regularly. • After str iking a foreign obje ct, stop the engin e, remove the wire from the spark plug, and thoroughly inspect the mower f or any damage .

7 SECTION 3: CONTENTS OF HARDWARE PACK The lawn mo wer is shippe d with foll owing loose par ts in the ca rton. Plea se rem ove all loo se parts, includin g the hardwar e pack, from the c arton before di scarding it. Compare the contents of th e hardware pack with the har dware shown on this page.
8 SECTION 4: ASSEMBLING YOUR LAWN MOWER IMPORT ANT : This unit is sh ipped w ithout gasoli ne or oil in th e engine. Be cer tain to servi ce engin e with gasoli ne and o il as instru cted in the separ ate engi ne m anual before ope rating you r mower.
9 Attachin g Starter Rope • The ro pe guide is attached to the righ t side of upper handle. Loo sen the wing nu t which sec ures the rope guid e. See Figu re 6. Figure 6 • With t he spar k plug wire di sconnec ted and grounded , hold the blade contro l handle agains t the upper h andle, and pu ll the starter rope out of the engine.
10 • Rotate the ax le shaft unti l first tab on the r ight side of t he ax le sha ft clea rs t he hol e in t he rig ht p ivot bar. Rotate furthe r until second tab on the right side of the axle sh aft locks into the hole in the same pivot bar . The tab on the le ft side of the axle shaf t should hi t on the surface of th e left piv ot bar.
11 SECTION 5: KNOW YOUR LAWN MOWER Read thi s owne r ’ s manual and s afety r ules before o perating your la wn mo wer. Comp are the illustr ations in Figure 14 with your lawn mowe r to familiar ize your self with the l ocation of var ious cont rols and ad justments .
12 SECTION 6: OPERATING YOUR LAWN MOWER WARNING: K eep hands and feet away from chute a rea on the c utting deck . The operation of any lawn mower can r esult in foreign objects being t hrown into the eyes, which c an result in s evere eye d amage. Always w ear safety glas ses or eye sh ields.
13 For a healthi er lawn, never cut off more th an one-third of the total len gth of the gras s. Your la wn should be c ut in the fall as long as there is growth. Th is mower is designed to be operated at full throttl e to give you the best cut and do the most effec tive job of mo wing or mulchin g.
14 SECTION 8: MAINTAINING YOUR LAWN MOWER General Recommendations • Always observe sa fety rules when perfor ming any maintenan ce. • The warran ty on this lawn mower does n ot co ver items t hat ha ve been subjec ted t o opera tor abuse or neglig ence.
15 Maint enanc e NOTE: W hen tippi ng the unit , empty the fuel ta nk and keep t he spark pl ug side o f engine up . Never ti p the mower m ore than 90 de grees and do no t leave the mower tip ped for any len gth of time . Oil can drain i nto the upper part of the engine causing a star ting problem .
16 SECTION 9: STORING YOUR LAWN MOWER The follow ing steps should be tak en to prepar e your lawn mow er for storage. • Clean an d lubrica te mower thoroughly as des cribed in the lu bricati on instru ction s.
