4 5. Never run an eng ine indoors or in a poorly ventil ated area. Engine ex haust contains carbon mon oxide, an odorless and dea dly gas . 6. Do not operate m achine wh ile under the influ ence of alcohol or dru gs. 7. Muffler a nd engine become hot and can cause a burn .
5 SECTION 2: ASSEMBLING YOUR SNOW THROWER NOTE: Any reference in this m anual to th e left or right side of the s now thr ower is obse rved fro m the operator ’s position . Unpacking • Remove s taples from the top, sides, an d ends of the shi pping c rate.
6 • Tigh ten the two wi ng nuts al ready in plac e on the upper hol es and se cure the handles firmly .Slide the shift rod connector down over th e end of the lo wer shift rod. T ap the conn ector u ntil it locks over the lower shift r od. See Figur e 2.
7 • Rech eck adjus tment; read just as necessar y and tighten t he jam nut. 8 IMPORT ANT : Always r elease tra ction the c ontrol befo re chang ing spe eds. Forward Your s now throw er ha s si x forwa rd (F ) speed s. Pos ition number one (1) is the slo west and po sition num ber six (6) is the fastes t. Reverse Your sn ow thrower has tw o reverse (R) s peeds.
9 SECTION 4: OPERATING YOUR SNOW THROWER Before Starting WARNING: Read, understand, and follow all instructions and warnings on the machine and in this manual befo re operating . Gas And Oil Fill-up Service the engine with ga soline and oil as instruc ted in the separate engine manua l packed wi th your snow thrower.
10 T o Stop Engine • Run engine for a few min utes before sto pping to help dry off any moisture on the engine. • To help prevent poss ible freeze- up of starte r, proceed as fol lows. Electric Starter: • Conne ct power cord to sw itch b ox o n eng ine, then to 120 volt AC recept acle.
11 • Loosen th e jam nut on th e traction drive ca ble and thread the c able in or ou t as nece ssary. R efer to Figure 7. • Retighten the jam nut to secure the cab le when corre ct adjustm ent is reached .

14 • Remove the six carr iage bolts (thre e per side), bellevi lle washe rs and hex nu ts whic h attach slide sh o es to the snow thrower on two sides. See Figure 8. • Reasse mble new slide s hoes with the hardware removed earlier (cupped s ide of belle ville was her again st the slide shoes ).
