5 SECTION 2: ASSEMBLING YOUR SNOW THROWER Unpacking • Remove s crews from th e top sides an d ends of the ship ping cr ate. • Set panel aside to avoid ti re punctures or personal injury . • Remov e and disc ard plast ic bag that co vers unit. • Rol l unit out of crat e.
6 • Slide th e shift rod conn ector down ov er the end of the lower shift rod. Se e Figu re 4. Ta p the c onnector until i t locks on the lower shift rod. NOTE: If the c onnector is not pr operly assemb led, the shift rod will pivot and you will not be able to change direction or speed of the s now thrower.

9 Electric Chute-Rotation Switch The ele ctr ic chut e-rotati on switch is located o n the left side of t he snow thr ower han dle panel . To chang e the direct ion in which dischar ged snow is thrown, proc eed as follo ws: • Push th e toggle s witch to the lef t to rotate the ch ute count erclockwi se.
10 SECTION 4: OPERATING YOUR SNOW THROWER Before Starting WARNING: Read, u nderstand, an d follow all instr uctions and warni ngs on the ma chine and in this ma nual befor e operating . • The s park pl ug wire was discon nected f or safe ty. Attach sp ark plug wi re to spa rk plug be fore star ting.
11 • Recoil Star ter: Wi th engine ru nning, p ull start er rope with a rapi d, continuo us full arm str oke three or four tim es. Pulling th e starter rope will prod uce a loud clatt ering sou nd, which is not ha rmful to the engine o r star ter. • Wipe all snow and mois ture fro m the carburet or cove r in the area of the c ontrol lev ers.
12 SECTION 5: MAKING ADJUSTMENTS WARNING: NEVER a ttempt to clean chute o r make any adjust ments whi le engine is runni ng. T raction Control Refer to Final Adjustments on page 6 to adjus t traction control .
13 SECTION 6: MAINTAINING YOUR SNOW THROWER Before lu bricati ng, repair ing, or in specting , disengag e all cl utch leve rs and sto p engine. Wait un til all movin g parts hav e come to a complete stop. Dis connect spark plu g wire and gro und it against the e ngine to preve nt unintende d starting .
14 SECTION 7: SERVICING YOUR SNOW THROWER WARN ING: Befo re servi cing, repa iring, or insp ecting, d isengage all clutch lever s and stop e ngine. Wa it until all mo ving par ts have come to a compl ete stop. Disc onnect spar k plug wir e and ground i t against the engine to prevent unintend ed star ting.
15 • Unhook the idler spri ng from the hex bol t on the auger hous ing. See Figu re 19. • Back ou t the stop bolt un til the suppo rt bracket rests on the auger pulley. Se e Figure 20. NOTE: It ma y be neces sary to loosen the six nuts tha t conne ct the fr ame to the a uger hou sing t o aid in b elt remova l.
16 • Holding the frictio n wheel ass embly, sl ide the hex shaft out of the l eft side of the fr ame. See Figur e 21. The s pacer on the r ight side of the hex sh aft will fall and the s procket should re main hangin g loose in th e chain . • Lift the frict ion whee l assembly ou t between th e axle shaf t and the driv e shaft ass emblies .
