Press the co ver gently back into plac e until you hear a clic k. Charging the Battery When you first get your new phone you‟ll need to charge the b attery.
16 2. Conne c t the charger to a standard A C wall outle t. 3. Disconne ct the charger w hen the battery is fully charged. To check the charge: If the battery is low , there w ill be a pop-up message on the screen an d the L ED in di ca tor w ill be r ed.
17 Lower the s creen brigh tness. Turn Bluetoo th off w hen not in use. Turn Wi-Fi o ff when not in use. Disable the G PS function w hen not in use. Most application s using this function w ill periodically query the G PS satellites for your current loca tion; each query drains your battery.

20 Getting to Kno w the Home Screen The home screen is the starting p oint for your phone‟s app lications, fun c tion s, and menus . You can customiz e your home screen by a dding appli cation icons, short cuts, folders, widgets, a nd more.

25 Encryption provides a dditional pr otection in case your phone is s tolen, and may be require d or recommended in some organiz ations. Consult your system ad ministrator b efore turning it on. In many cases the PIN or pa ssword you set for encryp tion is controlled by the syste m adminis trator.

30 Most apps that send no tification s, such as Gmail and Google Ta lk, have notification settings that you can ad just. TIP: In the no tification panel, touch at the top of notification s list to get to the Settings menu quickly . Managing Shortcut s and Widget s Add Shortcuts and Widgets 1.

39 T urn Wi-Fi On and Connect to a Wi -Fi Network 1. Touch the Home Key > Menu Key > System settings > Wi- Fi . 2. Touch or slide the Wi -Fi switch to the ON posi tion to turn on Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi ne tw orks that your pho ne has de tected are displayed w ith their names and security settings.

51 Placing and Ending Ca lls Place a Call by Di aling 1. Tou ch the Home Key > . 2. In th e dialer tab , enter the p hone numbe r with the on- screen keypad . Touch to del ete wrong digi ts. NOTE: As you enter digits, your phone sea rches for con tacts that match.
52 Answer a Call When you r eceive a p hone call, drag over to answ er the call. NOTE: To silence the ringer before answ ering the call, pres s the Volume Key s up or dow n. Reject a Call When you r eceive a p hone call, drag over to reject the call. You can als o drag o ver to reject the call and send a pre s et text message to the caller .

60 Peo ple You can add contacts on your pho ne and synchroniz e them w ith the con tacts in your Google account or other accoun ts that support conta ct syncing. T o see your contac ts, tou ch the Home Key > . From there , you can tou ch the t abs on the top of the screen to quickly s w it ch to t he cont act gro ups or favorite cont acts .
61 4. E nter the c ontac t nam e, phon e numb ers, ema il ad dress es, and ot her info rmati on. 5. Touch DONE to sa ve the contact. Setting Up Y our Own Profile You can cre ate your ow n name card in your phone . 1. Touch the Home Key > and touch the all contacts tab .

66 Join Contact s Your phone can synchro nize w ith multiple ac counts containing your conta ct informatio n (such a s Google and Microsof t Exchange ActiveSyn c). When you synchroniz e your phone w ith those account s, e ach account add s a separate contac t entry in the Contacts li st.

82 Replying to a M essage Messages you receive are append ed to exis ting threads of the same n umber . If the n ew message comes fro m a new number , a new thread is crea ted. 1. On the Messaging screen , touch the thread that has the message you w ant to reply to.
83 Deleting Messa ges or Threads T o delete messages in a thread: 1. On the Messaging screen , touch a t hread. 2. T ouch the Menu Key > Select item(s) . 3. T ouch the message s you want to del et e. The ones you touch w ill have a chec k in the box in front of the m.
84 Calendar Calendar on the phone w orks with the w eb-based Google Cal endar service for creating and managing event s, meetings, and appoin tment s. It also works with the Mi crosof t Exchange ActiveSync calenda r once you sign into your Exchange account on the phone.

Y ou can use it to communica te in real tim e with o ther people w ho also use Googl e T alk , on a phone , on the web, or w ith a desk top applicati on. Signing In to See Y our Frien ds Y ou must sign in to your Google account before yo u can use Go ogle T alk.
