BIOS Setup - 1 - BIOS Setup Introduction This manua l discussed A ward™ Se tup prog ram built into the ROM BIOS. T he Setup progra m a llows user s to m odify the basi c sys tem c onfigura tion. Th is spec ial inf ormation is then store d in batte ry-ba cked RAM so that it reta ins the Set up inform ation w hen the power is turned off .

BIOS Setup - 3 - Main Menu Once you enter Aw ard BIOS™ CM OS Setup Utility, the Main M enu w ill appear on the screen. T he M ain Menu allow s you to sele ct from sev eral setup fu nctions. Use the arrow keys to sele ct among the items a nd press < Enter> to ac cept and enter the sub-menu.
BIOS Setup - 4 - Advanced Chipset Features This submenu allow s you to configure special chipset features. Integrated Peripheral s This subm enu al lows you to config ure certain IDE hard drive opti ons an d Programmed Input/ Output features. Powe r Manage ment Setup This submenu allow s you to configure the power management features.
BIOS Setup - 5 - Set Use r Pa ssword If the S upervisor P assword i s not s et, then t he User Passw ord will fun ction in the same way as the S upervis or Passw ord. If the Superv isor P assword i s set and the User Passw ord is set, the “Us er” will only be able to v iew configurations but will not be able to change them.
BIOS Setup - 6 - Standard CMOS Features The items in Stand ard CM OS Setup Menu are div ided into 10 cate gories. Ea ch category in clude s no, one or more than one setup i tems. Use t he arrow keys to highlight th e item a nd then us e the<PgUp> or <PgDn> key s to se lect the v alue you w ant in each item.

BIOS Setup - 9 - CPU L2 Cache ECC Checkin g This item allow s you to enable/disable CPU L2 C ache ECC Checking. The Choices: Enabled (default), Disabled. Quick Po wer On Self Test Enabling thi s option w ill caus e an abridged version o f the Power On Self-T est (POST) to execute after you power up the computer.

BIOS Setup - 11 - Advanced Chipset Features This su bmenu al lows y ou to con figure t he spe cific fea tures o f the chipset install ed on your syste m. This chipse t manages bus speeds and acce ss to system me mory resourc es, suc h as DRAM and ex ternal cache.
BIOS Setup - 12 - DRA M Timing This item determines DRA M clock/ timing follow SPD or not. The Choices: By SPD (default), Manual. SDRAM CAS Latency When DRAM is installed, the number of cloc k cycles of C AS latency depends on the DRAM timing. The Choices : 2.

BIOS Setup - 16 - Primary / Secondary /Master / Slave PIO The IDE PIO (Programmed Input / O utput) fields let you set a PIO mode (0-4) for each of the IDE devices that the onboard IDE interface supports. M odes 0 to 4 will increa sed perfor mance progre ssively.

BIOS Setup - 19 - The Choices: PCI Slot (default), AG P. OnChip USB Controller This op tion shou ld be ena bled if you r system has a USB in stalled on t he syste m board. Y ou will need to di sable this featur e if you ad d a high er performance controller.

BIOS Setup - 22 - Video Off M ethod This option determines the manner in w hich the monitor is goes blank. V/H SYNC+Blank (default) This sele ction will ca use the syste m to turn off the vertical and horizontal synchroniz ation ports and write blanks to the v ideo buffer.
BIOS Setup - 23 - Supply w ill be used. There are 3 options: “Former-Sts”, “On”, “Off”. “Off” (default) Means alw ays set CMOS to the “Off” status w hen AC power is lost.
BIOS Setup - 24 - PowerOn by PCI Card When you sele ct Enabled, a PME signal fro m PCI card returns the system to Full ON state. The Choices: Disabled (default), Enabled.

BIOS Setup - 27 - IRQ Resources This sub menu will allow you to assign each sys tem interrupt a ty pe, depending on the type of device using the interrupt . When you pre ss the “Pre ss Enter” tag, you w ill be directed to a s ubmenu that w ill allow you to configure the system interrupts.

When this fun ction is enabl ed, the system w ill warn you if the C PU temperature reaches the warning temperature.
