3 Congrat ulations on your purchase of Spar k Digital from Blue Micr ophones. Spark Digit al is a cardioid, solid-s tate c ondenser microphone that feat ures USB and L ightning TM connec tiv it y, designed to help you achieve prof essional st udio-qualit y digit al recordings in any en vironment.
Setting Up Spark Digit al includes a uniquely -designed shockmount s tand that is de signed to help isolate your micr ophone ( and, thus, your r ecordings ) from vibr ations, bumps , and any low frequ.
5 Spark Digital Controls All of Spark Digit al’s advanced feat ures ar e controlled w ith just t w o knobs : t he large Contr ol Knob at the front of t he microphone and the Focus Cont rol toggle s witch at t he rear. Control Knob The Cont rol Knob allows adjus tment of headphone volume, micr ophone gain ( sensitiv it y ) , and microphone mute.
6 Focus Control Recessed in the low er groove of t he body t ube at the rear of t he microphone you w ill find a small, t wo-position toggle swit ch. Wit h this sw itch in the OFF posit ion ( Normal mode ) , your Spark Digit al provides incr eased low frequenc y sensitiv it y for r ecordings wit h great im pact and definition.

8 Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista 1 . Plug t he microphone into t he USB port on y our computer using the pr ovided USB cable. 2. From the Star t menu, selec t the Control Panel . 3. From the Contr ol Panel, select t he Sound icon. 4. Select t he Recording tab.
Usage Notes Spark Digital requires a powered USB port or Lightning iPad or iPhone connection for proper operation. T o perform at its best, Spark Digital should be plugged directly into a powered USB port, so avoid connecting through USB hubs or other USB multipliers.

14 Drums Spark Digit al’s fast tr ansient response, cr isp highs, and high-pas s filter make it an ideal mic f or recording dr ums. For kit and hand drums , begin by placing the microphone t w o to four inches above t he rim or hoop ( wher e the head is secured t o the shell ) .
15 A less common, t hough ver y usef ul technique, is t o position a st ereo pair or single Spar k Digital microphone jus t outside of t he piano, either in the cur ve of a g rand, above an upr ight, or a fe w feet away fr om the cabinet .
