When mounting, use four screws with washers to pr e - vent marring the front panel.

23 of 66 4.0 Hardware Installation 4.7.9 ZONE 4 LINE OUT output The ZONE 4 LINE OUT jack provides a line-level output that duplicates the program material on LINE 4. This may be used to feed another Bose ® amplifier installed for a large zone. The 12V control output is used to connect to Bose amplifier sequence inputs.

After your PC is connected to the har dware, check the clock and set it a s necessary for t he time zone and region of your installation.

35 of 66 6.0 FreeSpace ® 4400 System Setup 6.3 System se tup procedur e The first time you t urn on a FreeSpace 4400 system it loads its factory (default) configuration sett ings. These settings were stored in the Fr ee Spac e 4400 when it was manufactured.
36 of 66 6.0 FreeSpace ® 4400 System Setup 2. Set the minimum output gain. This sets the desired minimum volume within a zone. Play a source that will be used in the zone and adjust the volume slider to t he desired mi nimum level. Raise the minimum gain stop up to the volume slider level.

38 of 66 6.0 FreeSpace ® 4400 System Setup Input gain setup sequence 1. Set Opti-source ® Control to Off . This allows you make the initial gain setting. 2. Select the source Ty p e and determine if Mic Power +12V is needed. Set Mic Power to On if required.

40 of 66 6.0 FreeSpace ® 4400 System Setup To set up paging in a zone In order to use paging in a zo ne, first you must assign the PA G E source to the zone. Then select the appropriate settings in th e Page Setup ( page 40 ) control pane. 6.3.5 Source EQ An input source EQ contr ol panel is ava ilable for inputs 3 and 4.

This enables the Ducking Depth and Release Time contr o ls . 2. Set the Ducking Depth to the amount in dB that the music will be reduced to once a page is triggered.
42 of 66 6.0 FreeSpace ® 4400 System Setup Paging operation When a page signal is triggere d, the music signal is ramped down according to the duckin g time. The duckin g time is preset at 20 ms for Auto detection an d 0 ms for P TT triggering. The music level is reduced by th e ducking depth which can be adjusted using the ducking dept h control.
43 of 66 6.0 FreeSpace ® 4400 System Setup 6.3.8 Dynamic EQ The Dynamic EQ contr ol panel provides an on/of f control to enable/disable Dynamic Equali zati on in the current zone. Dynamic EQ sho u ld on ly be used in either of the follow ing conditions: • The system contains exte nded bass or a FreeSpace ® 3 loud - speaker system.

If a fault c ondition occurs, it is reported in the Amplifier Alarm section of the Err or Log. Upper amplifier alarms af fect channels 1 and 2, and Lower ampl ifi er alarms affect channels 3 and 4.
57 of 66 8.0 FreeSpace ® 4400 System Troubleshooting A number of fault conditions ca n be displayed in the Input Status section: DC Sense Fault : A power supply fuse, outp ut FET , amplifier mod - ule, or some combination of the above has blown. The unit should be replaced.
