1 INTR ODUCTION The Boxlight CD-40m ™ is specifically desig ned for the mobile presen ter . It packs SVGA graphics with 16.7 million colors into a small, 6.8 poun d packa ge. It genera tes cris p, clear images usin g Digital Ligh t Processin g™ (DLP) techno lo gy .

5 SETTING UP THE PR OJECTO R 1 Place the pr ojector on a f lat surface. • The pr ojector must be within 10 feet ( 3 m) of your power source a nd within 6 feet (1.8 m) o f your computer . • If you want to pr oject fr om behind a translucent scr een, set up the pr ojector behind your screen.
6 Setti ng up the Pr ojector NO TE : Before you continue, mak e sur e the projecto r and your equipment are turned off. If you’ re connecting a computer , mak e sure the distance betw een it and the pro jector is 6 feet o r less .
7 Connecting a n IBM-Compatible Comp uter 1 Plug the end of the CablePro Lite computer cable into the video connector o n your computer . NO TE: Many laptop computer s do not automatically turn on their external video por t when a sec- ondar y display device suc h as a pr ojector is connected.

9 Connec ting a Video Pla y er 1 If your video player uses a r o und, one-pr on g composite video connector, you’ll need only the A/V cable that shipped with the pr ojector. • If your video player uses a round, four-pr ong S-video con - nector , you’ll need an S-video cable in addition to th e A/V cable.

12 Setti ng up the Pr ojector T urning Off the Pr ojector If you want to turn o ff the pr ojector for a short period of time, press the st andby button on the keypad.
13 USING T HE PR OJECTOR This section describes how to use an d make adjustments to the projector . It also provides a refer ence to the keypad butto ns and the opt ions ava ilable fr om the o n-scr een menu s. Basic Ima ge Adjus tment 1 Make sur e you have power ed up your equipment in the right or der (page 1 1).
14 Using the Pr ojector The projector is equipped with a self-locking, quick- release eleva- tor foot and butto n (Fig ure 10). T o raise the pr ojector: 1 Press and hold the elevator button (Fig ure 9). 2 Raise the pr ojector to the height you want, then r elease the button to lock the elevator foo t into positio n.
15 Using the K e ypad Buttons The keypad is lit orange when the projector is on an d lit green while the menus are displayed. While the menus are displayed, the volume, s ource, and standby button s act as nav igation but- tons. See “Using th e On-Screen M enus” on page 17 for details.
16 Using the Pr ojector Standb y When you press standb y , the display and audio turn of f and a blank scr een is displayed for 15 mi nutes. Y ou can change the amount of time the pr ojector stays in standby mode; see “Standby T ime” on page 23 for details.
17 Using the On-Scr een Menus The projector h as six drop-down m enus t ha t allow you to make image adjus tments and chan ge a variety of setting s. Most of these adjustments aren’t ava ilable directly fr om the keypad. NO TE: Some menu items may be gray ed out at cer tain times .

19 Color The color setting adjusts a video image fr om black and white to fully saturated color . • Press the left mo use button to decrease the amount of color in the image. • Press the right mouse button to increase the amount of color in the image.

24 Using the Pr ojector Rear Projection When you turn Rear Pro jec ti on on, the proj ector r everses the image so you can pr oject fr om behind a translucent scr een. High- light Rear Projection , then click either mouse but ton to turn this featur e on and of f.
25 Displa y Star tup Screen This setting toggles between On and Off . When this feature is On, the startup screen appears when the pr ojector starts up and remains until an active source is detected. Click either mouse but- ton to turn this feature off and display a plain black or blue screen instead of the startup scr een.

29 MAINTENANCE & T R OUBLES HOOTING This section describes how to: • clean the lens • r eplace the proj ection lamp • use the Kensington lo ck feature • tr oubleshoot the pr ojector Cleaning the Le ns Follow these steps to clean the projection lens: 1 Apply a non-abrasive cam era lens cleaner to a soft, d ry cloth.

33 T roubles hoo ting Prob lem: Nothin g on p r ojection screen • Make sure that the power cord is pr op erly connected to a func- tional AC electrical outlet. Make sure that the po wer cord is also pr operly connected to the pr ojector . • If the pr ojector is plugged into a power strip, make sure the power strip is turned on.

35 Pr ob lem: Imag e is out of focus • T urn the projection lens to focus the image. • Make sur e the proj ection screen is at least 5 feet (1.5 m) fro m the pr ojector . • Check the pr ojection lens to see if it needs cleaning. Prob lem : Imag e and m enus are r ev ersed left to ri ght • Rear pr ojection mode is pr obably turned on.
