Observe the rule... “ what yo u take in , carry out ” . D o not litter . D o not start cam pfires unle s s you hav e permission to do so... and then only ... away from dry areas. The hazards you may c reate on the trail may cause i njury to others or yourse lf, even at a late r date.
U p hi l l D r iv in g Due to configu ratio n, this vehicl e h as exce llent cl imbing ab ility , so much so that tipover is possible before traction is los t . For example, i ts co mmon to en co unter terra i n situations where the to p of t he hill has eroded to a po int that the hil l peak rises very sharply .
T o maintain proper c ontrol it is strongly advised that you keep your hands on the handle bar and w ith in e a sy re a c h of a ll c ontrols. The same hol ds true for your feet. T o minimize the pos s ibility of any leg or foot inju r y , keep your feet o n the footrests at a ll times.
V00A0VL Water w i ll affe ct the braki ng abili ty of your vehicle . M ake sure you dry the brakes by appl ying them several ti me s after the ve h icl e leaves the water . Mud or m ar sh l ands m ay be enc ou ntered near w ater . Be prepa red for sudd en “ holes ” o r changes in depth.
W hen ri ding in s and dune s it i s advisable to equi p the vehicle with an a n tenna type s afety fl a g . This w ill help make y o ur locat ion mo r e visible t o others over the next sa nd dune . Proceed carefully s h ould you see ano ther safety flag ahea d.
Uphill Keep y our bo dy we ight forward t owards th e top of the hill. Ke ep your feet on the foot pegs a n d shift in to low gear then acc e le rate and when necessary , c h ange gear quickly as you climb. Do not ov er-speed since this may c a u s e the front of the vehicle to lift fr o m the grou nd a n d fa ll back on you.
Dow n hill Keep y our body w eight rearwa rds. Apply the bra ke gradually to preven t skid ding. Do not “ coast ” down the slope usi ng solely engine compre ssion or i n neutral gear .
Side Hilling This is one o f the m ost r i sky types of riding sin c e it may dra stically chang e the balance of th e veh icle. It should be avoid ed whereve r poss ible. If it i s necessar y to do so how ever , it is important tha t y ou AL WA Y S keep you r body wei ght on the upsid e of the slope .
Cha nging the w heel and /or tire siz e ma y af f e ct the stab ility of the ve hicle. I ncor - rect ti re pressure may lead to blo w outs or ca u s e a ti re to move around on its rim and becom e lost or dama ged. W heels or tires which are damaged s hould always be replaced.
