Important Safety Instructions To ensure the safe operation o f this scanner, b e sure to read the safety warn ings and pre cautions de scribe d below. Installat ion Location The performance of this scanner is affected by the environm ent in which it is installed.

Turn the power OFF , and remove t he transpo rtation scr ews and tag. • As th e transport ation screws are necessar y when tran sporting th e scanner, do not throw th em away.

2-6 Chapter 2 Setup 4. Connecting the Scanner to the Computer There are two methods for c onnecting the DR-7090C sca nner to a comp uter: a USB c onnection to a standard USB po rt built i n to the co mputer, or S CSI co nnecti on to a SCSI ca rd instal led in an expan sion sl ot of the comput er.
2-7 Chapter 2 Setup Using a SCSI Connection IMPORTANT Make sure that the computer is turn ed OFF before con necting the SCSI cabl e. If the c able is con nected whi le the comp uter is on, the scanner may not be proper ly recognized b y the c omputer.

For such docume nts, scan one page at a ti me from the flatbed (platen gla ss). Hint • Note that mixing document s of different thic knesses and siz es may cau se a mal function during fe eding.

3-5 Chapter 3 Basic Operation • When scanning NCR paper that is 11" x 17"/A3 or othe r large sizes, as well as paper that is ve ry thin, the docume nt may occasion ally get caught in the p aper e ject mechanis m. In this case, place an a uxiliary sheet of pap er in the document eject tray bef ore scanning the doc ument.

IMPORTANT • Print (at or iginal size) PATCH T (A4) and PAT CH II (A4) sheets on A4 paper, or PATCH T (LTR) and PATCH II (LTR ) on LTR paper.
