Preparing the Scanner When pla cing a doc ument in the scanner, p ull out the document eject tray so that it ma tches the si ze of the do cument, a nd then mov e the feed sele ction lever to th e appropriat e positio n for the desired feed met hod (Page Sep aration ON or OFF) for the do cument.
2-5 2 Handling ❏ Feed Selection Lever Change the po sition of the lev er to the desi red feed method for the document. Page S eparation ON Move t he lev er downward to s epara te a st ack of docu ments one page at a time in orde r to continuou sly feed the document s.

Placing Documents When plac ing docu ments into the scanne r, place them face down into the tray with th e top edge of the docum ent at the bo ttom of tray. ❏ Placing a Document Follow the pro cedure bel ow to place a do cument. 1. 2-8 ❏ Placing a Card When you want to scan a ca rd, follo w the proced ure belo w to place the card . 1. Mov e the feed selection l ever upward (OFF). IMPORTANT When scannin g cards, set th e feed select ion lever to OFF and make sur e to scan the cards one at a time.
2-9 2 Handling 4. Clearing a Paper Jam or Double Feed Error When a paper j am or double feed error is detected , feeding and scanning stops . 1. Check t he dis play ed mes sage . If a paper jam or d ouble feed error is detected at the first page of a do cument, t he follo wing messag es appear.
2-10 IMPORTANT When the mes sage above is di splayed and th e scanner trans itions to Low P ower Mode, all o f the data scanne d up until that poi nt is discarded. (See p. 3-3.) 2. Scanning Procedures You can per form scan ning fr om the Home scre en or the Job Butto n screen. ❏ Scanning From the Home Screen Press a destin ation sele ction (E-mail, FTP, Fax, Shared folder, or USB memory) button to open an address selectio n screen and then select an addres s to send an image file.

Co nfirm the a ddress and scann ing settings registered to the jo b button a nd then start scanning . 3-16 ❏ USB Memory Screen The USB M emory scre en enables you to specify t he fo lder in the USB memory to save the image file. a Path Enter the folder path of the USB memory. You can also press [Downward ] to select a folder. b USB Memo ry Displ ay Displays the inserted USB mem ory.

IMPORTANT If [Co nfirm addresses before sendi ng] is set to [OF F] in Delivery Options of the Sc an/Delivery Options screen, the image i s sent without dis playing the ad dress confi rmation screen and the operatio n ends.

Registering and Editing Addresses If an address t o which yo u want to sen d an image file is not regist ered in the add ress book or t he informat ion of a regi stered address has not b een upd ated, us e the proced ure belo w to regist er a new add ress or modify an address in the ad dress book.
3-23 3 Operating Procedures Hint If the pa th of the sub-f older is unknown, use the proced ure below to spe cify the su b-folder. 1. Enter the host name, user name, pa ssword, and domain, and then pre ss [Brows e] to access the comp uter that is making the sh ared folder publ ic.

3-30 Hint • The initia l value for the Skip Bla nk Page option is set to “90.” • As you lower the value from the default setting, pages o f the document with text become more likely to be skipped as well. • As you raise the value from the de fault sett ing, pages of th e document that are blank bec ome less likel y to be skipped.

Hint When [Aut o] is selected, the scanner de tects text or ientation within t he doc ument and ro tates the imag e so that the orie ntat ion of the tex t is corr ect. IMPORTANT The scann ing speed may be reduce d when [Auto] is sele cted.
