Operating Instructions 10 Contr ol panel Pr ogramme selector The progr amme selector define s the nature of the washing cycle (e.g. water level, drum move- ment, number of rinses, spin speed) to suit the type of wash- ing, as well as the wash tempera- ture.
Operating Instructions 11 EASY IRON position: Main washing cycle at 40 °C for easy-care fabrics which, with the aid of this programme, only re quire a gentle iron, if any ironing at all. DELICATES Main washing cycle for delicates at 30 °C or 40 °C.
Operating Instructions 12 Pr ogramme option buttons The progr amme option buttons are used to adapt the washing progr amme to suit the degree of soiling of the washing. Progr amme options are not requir ed for normally soiled washing. The different functions can be combined together depending on the progr amme.
Operating Instructions 13 Consumption data and wash times The values given in the following table for selected progr ammes were calculated under standar d conditions . They pr ovide a useful guide for operation in the home. Run time display 3 The multi-display indicates the estimated duration, in minutes, of the pr ogramme.
Operating Instructions 14 What does UPDA TE mean? The control system of your machine is fully electronic. The software which determines this control system can be r eprogrammed. If a fur- ther improvement to washing techno logy is intr oduced by AEG then your machine can be updated.
Operating Instructions 15 Befor e the first wash 0 Run a washing cycl e without washin g (COTT ONS 95, with half the amount of detergent). This removes any residues fr om the drum which may have been left during manufacturing.
Operating Instructions 16 W ashing Types and Car e Symbols The care symbols help you choos e the corr ect washing progr amme. Washing should be sorted accor ding to type and care symbol. The tem- peratur es indicated in the care symbols ar e maximum values.
Operating Instructions 17 Deter gents a nd Conditioners Which deter gent and conditioner ? Use only deter gents and conditioner s which are su itable for use in au- tomatic washing machines.
Operating Instructions 18 Running a washing cycle Brief instructions A washing cycle consists of the following steps: 0 1. Set the correct washing pr ogramme: – Select the progr amme and temperature with the pr ogramme selector . – Select any progr amme options if requir ed.
Operating Instructions 19 Setting the Washing Pr ogr amme 3 See "Progr amme tables" for a suitable programme, corr ect temperatur e and possible progr amme options to suit the type of washing. 0 1. Set the pr ogramme selector to the desired washing pr ogramme with the desired temper ature.
Operating Instructions 20 Changing the spin speed /Selecting Rinse Hold 0 If necessary , change the spin speed for the final spin / select RINSE HOLD: Press the Spin speed / RINSE HOLD button repeatedly until the indicator of the r equired spin speed or of RINSE HOLD illuminates.
Operating Instructions 21 Opening and closing the door 0 Open: Press the DOOR/LIGHT button. The door springs open. 0 Close: Press the door firmly closed. When the unit is switched on, th e DOOR/LIGHT display shows whether the door can be opened: 3 The washing drum is illuminated when the door is open.

Operating Instructions 25 W ashing cycle complete / Removing the washing Once the washing progr amme has come to an end, END illuminates on the progr amme progr ess display . • If the EASY IRON progr amme was se lected, an anti-creasing phase of approximately 30 minutes follows the pr ogramme end.

This machine is capable of washin g 5.5 kg, however , to achieve opti- mum wash r esults it is recommended th at the wash loads quoted in this instruction book are adher ed to.

Do not use househol d furniture polish or abrasive cleaner s to clean panel and operating parts. 0 Wipe over the operating panels wi th a damp cloth. Use warm water . Deter gent Dispenser Drawer The detergent dispenser dr awer should be cleaned from time to time.
Operating Instructions 29 7. Use a brush to clean the entire compartment area of the washing machine, particularly also the nozzles on the top side of the compartment. 8. Set the deter gent dispensing drawer into the guide tr acks and push it in. Wa sh i n g Ma c h i n e D r u m The washing machine dru m is made from rust-fr ee stainless steel.
Operating Instructions 30 Cleaning the dr ain pump P aper clips, nails and so on can sometimes get into the washing ma- chine with th e washing and remain in the drain pump casing. Fluff and strands of fabric can gather on these items and block the drain pump.
Operating Instructions 31 What to do if... T rouble Shooting If the appliance is not working correc tly , please carry out the following checks befor e contacting your local Service Force Centr e.
Operating Instructions 32 The washing machine vibrates durin g opera- tion or is unstable . The transport pa ckaging has not been remo ved. Remove transport p ackaging according to the installation and connection in structions. The machine is not level.
Operating Instructions 33 The drain pump for the washing machine runs constantly - even when the appliance is switched off. The Aqua Control anti-flood system has been activated . Turn off the tap, then re- move the plug from the mains and inform Customer Service.
Operating Instructions 34 If the washing r esults are not satisfactory If the washing turns greyish and limescale deposits are pr esent in the drum • Insufficient detergent has been added. • Incorrect deter gent was used. • Stains were not pr e-treated.
Operating Instructions 35 Carrying out an emer gency emptying • If the washing machine no longer pumps out the water , emergency emptying must be carried out. • If the washing machine is located in a room in which below fr eezing temperatur es might occur , emergenc y emptying must be carried out.

Operating Instructions 37 Additional Rinse (RINSE+) The washing machine is set for very economical water consumption. However , for persons who suffer from aller gies to detergents, it can be helpful to rinse with extra water .
Operating Instructions 38 W ater Cooling It may be necessary to cool down the water before pumping it out in order to pr event thermal damage to the plastic drainage pipes. 3 The water is cooled down before pumping out at the end of the main washing cycle (by adding cold water).
Operating Instructions 39 Pr ogramme pr otection To safeguar d a progr amme setting against unwanted changes (e.g . pr o- gramme selector turned, option buttons pr essed etc., you can set the Progr amme protection. This pr even ts your washing being damaged.
Operating Instructions 40 Child Safety Featur e If the child safety featur e is set, the door cannot be closed and no washing progr amme can be started. Setting the child safety feature 0 Use a coin to turn the rotary knob on the inside of the door clock- wise as far as it will go.

This is to pr event the pos- sibility of the electronic components becoming wet.

This appliance is designed to be pe rmanently plumbed into your home’s water supply .
Installation and connec tion instructions 49 Inlet Hose Connection A pressur e hose 1.5 m in length is supplied. If a longer inflow hose is requir ed, only a VDE-approved, complete set of hoses with fitted hose scr ew conn ections offered by your local Serv- ice Force Centr e is permissible.

Use the plastic “U-Piece“ supplied. Important! The end o f the drainage hose must not be submerged in the pumped-out water .
