Unit shipped w ith top and botto m filter rac k and is not suitable f or duct connection without additional support. 3. Downflo w unit does not ha ve disch arge flange, and is r a ted f or zero clearan ce installation.
Step 3 — Locate Unit — The following guidelines should be considered when choosing a location for a WSHP: • Units are for indoor use only . • Locate in areas where ambient temperatures are between 39 F and 102 F and relative humidity is no greater than 75%.
5. Check refrigerant tubing for contact with other compo- nents. Adjust if necessary . 6. Reinstall top panel using screws set aside in Step 1. NOTE: Location for some screws at bottom of discharge panel may have to be changed. 7. Manually spin fan wheel to check for obstructions.
Each unit must be installed with its own individual vent and means to flush or blow out the condensate drain line. Do not in- stall units with a common trap or vent. VE NT IN G — Install a vent in the condensate line of any application that may allow dirt or air to collect in the line.
W ater Supply and Quantit y — Check water supply . W ater supply should be plentiful and of good quality . See T able 2 for water quality guidelines. In all applications, the quality of the water circulated through the heat exchanger must fall within the ranges listed in the W ater Quality Guidelines table.
Table 2 — Water Quality Guideline s LEGEND *Heat e xchanger materials considered are copper , cupronick el, 304 SS (stainless st eel), 316 SS, titanium . †Closed recirculating system is identified by a closed pressurized piping system. **Recirculating open w ells should obs erve the open recirculating design considerations .
conform to the Class II temperature limitations described in the NEC. Refer to unit wiring diagrams Fig. 15-24 for a schematic of the field connections, which must be made by the installing (or electrical) contractor .

T o wire the SPT sensor to the controller : 1. Partially cut , then bend and pull of f the outer jacket of the Rnet cable(s), being careful not to nick the inner insulation. 2. Strip about 1 / 4 in. of the inner insulation from each wire. See Fig. 26.

16. Air coil is clean. 17. Control field-selected settings are correct . AI R CO IL — T o obtain maximum performance, clean the air coil before starting the unit. A 10% solution of dishwasher detergent and water is recommended for both sides of the coil.
Boilerless Changeover T emperature — Switch 8 on S1 provides selection of boilerles s changeo ver temperature set point. Select OFF for set point of 50 F or select ON for set point of 40 F . If switch 8 is set for 50 F , then the compressor will be used for heating as long as the FP1 is above 50 F .
ground loop systems will not experience overcooling of the supply-air temperature. If ove rcooling of the space is a con- cern (e.g., computer room well water application), auxiliary heating may be required to maintain space temperature when the unit is operati ng in the dehumidification mode.
ST ART -UP Use the procedure outlined below to initiate proper unit start-up. NOTE: This equipmen t is designed for indoor installation on ly . Operating Limits EN VI R ON ME N T — This equipment is designed for indoor installation ONL Y .
Scr oll Compressor Rotation — It is important to be certain compressor is rotating in the proper direction. T o determine whether or not compre ssor is rotating in the proper direction: 1. Connect service gages to suction and disch arge pressure fittings.

Output EH1, EH2, Fan Enable, and Fan Speed will be ON if the G input is not active during Emergency Heat mode. COOLING ST AG E 1 — In Co oli ng St age 1 m ode , t he Fa n Enable, compressor and R V relays are turned on immediately .
ured maximum heating SA T limit (110 F default). As the SA T approaches this value, the cont rol will increase the fan speed as required to ensure the SA T will remain within the limit. This feature provides the most quiet and efficient operation by oper- ating the fan at the lowest speed possible.
Auxiliary Mod ulating Hot W ater/Steam Heating Re heat — The control can modulate a hot water or steam valve con- nected to a coil on the discharge side of the unit and supplied by a boiler in order to maintain the desired heating set point should the compressor capacity be insuf ficient or a compressor failure occurs.
vide cooling to the space when required. Should the capacity be insufficient for a period grea ter than 5 minutes, or should a high humidity condition occur , then the compressor will be started to satisfy the load. Should the SA T reach the minimum cooling SA T limit, the economi zer valve will close during compressor operation.
WSHP Open T est Mode — T o enter WSHP Open test mode, navigate from the BAC view 6 home screen to the config- uration screen. Choose the servic e screen and enable unit test. The controller will then test the following: F AN T ES T — T ests all fan speeds, sequence s fan from low to high, and operates each speed for one minute.
SER VICE Perform the procedures ou tlined below periodically , as indicated. Filter s — Filters must be clean for maximum performance. Inspect filters every month under normal operating conditions. Replace when necessary . W ater Coil — Keep all air out of the water coil.
Checkin g System Charge — Units are shipped with full operating charge. If rechar ging is necessary: 1. Insert thermometer bulb in insulating rubber sleeve on liquid line near filter drier . Use a digital thermometer for all temperature measurements.
WSHP Open Contr oller — W ith the WSHP Open con- troller option, the 100 most recent alarms can be viewed using the BAC view 6 alarm status and alarm history . T o view the alarms: 1. Navigate to the Alarm S tatus screen from the Home screen using the arrow softkeys.
The bulb must be secured to the pipe using a copper strap. The use of heat transfer paste between the bulb and the pipe will also help ensure optimum performance. The bulb must also be properly insulated to eliminate any influence on valve operation by the surrounding conditions.
See T ables 30-32 for additional troubleshooting information. Table 30 — ECM Tro ubleshooting CA UTION Puron ® refrigerant (R-410A) requ ires the use of synthetic lubricant (POE oil). Do not use common tools on systems that contain R-22 refrigerants or mineral oil.
Fig. 39 — ECM Pin Connector s a50-8448.
Stopped or Malfunctioned ECM Motor — Refer to Fig. 40 to determine the possible cause of a stopped or mal- functioned ECM motor . Follow the instructions in the boxes.
Moisture Check — T o perform moisture check: • Check that connectors are orie ntated “down” (or as recom- mended by equipment manufacturer). • Arrange harnesses with “drip loop” under motor . • Check if condensate drain is plugged. • Check for low airflow (too much latent capacity).
