Safety instructions The safety of AEG appliances complies with the industry standar ds and with legal requir ements on the safety of appliances. However , as man- ufacturer s, we feel it is our duty to provide the following safety notes. Gener al notes • Repair s to the machine must be carried out only by qualified per son- nel.
Child safety • Childr en ar e often not aware of how danger ous electrical appliances can be. When the machine is working, they should be car efully super- vised and not be allowed to play with the appliance - there is a risk that they could become tr apped inside.
Discar ding P ackaging materials The materials marked with the symbol are r ecyclable. This means that they can be recycled by disposing of them pr operly in appr opriate collection container s. For information regar ding waste collection points, please contact your local authorities.
Tips for envir onmental protection • Lightly soiled laundry may be washed without pr ewashing in order to save detergent, water and time (the envir onment is protected too!). • The machine works more economically if it is fully loaded. • When small loads ar e washed, use only half to two thirds of the r ec- ommended amount of detergent.

48 ON/OFF button (AÇMA KAP AMA) Pr ess this button to start the pr ogr amme. Press it again to interrupt the pr ogr amme and to switch the machine off at the end of the pr ogr amme. W arning! Befor e selecting a pr ogramme or modifying a pr ogramme alr eady started, the machine must be switched off by pressing the ON/OFF button.
Deter gent and additive dispenser drawer Compartment for prewash deter gent. It is emptied at the beginning of the wash progr amme. Compartment for powder or liquid deter gent used for main wash. It is emptied at the beginning of the wash cycle. Compartment for liquid additives (fabric softener , starch).
Pr eparing the wash cycle Sorting out and pr eparing the laundry • Sort out the laundry accor ding to type of fabrics and care labels (see “T ypes of fabric and car e labels”). • Empty pockets. • Remove any metal parts (safety pins, clips, etc.
W eight of laundry T ypes of fabric and care labels The labels on garments help you to select the most suitable wash pr o- gr amme. The laundry should be sorted out accor ding to the type of fab- ric and the instructions indicated on car e labels. Temper atures indicated on labels ar e always maximum temperatur es.
Delicates Microfibr es, synthetics or curtains marked with these symbols requir e a particularly delicate treatment. The DELICATES pr ogramme (HASSAS ÇAMA Ç IRLAR) is suitable for this type of fabric.
Deter gents and additives Which deter gent and additive? Use only detergents and additives for washing machines. Follow the manufacturer’ s instructions.
How to wash Load the laundry Open the door . Place the laundry in the drum, one item at a time. Distribute laundry as evenly as possible. Close the door . Add deter gent and additive Pull the drawer out till it stops. P our the main wash detergent into compart- ment .
Select the r equired option Pr ess the button(s) accor ding to the selected progr amme. Start the pr ogramme Pr ess the ON/OFF (AÇMA KAP AMA) button: the mains-on light comes on and the pr ogramme starts. End of the pr ogramme The machine stops automatically .
Pr ogr amme chart Ener getic progr ammes for cottons and linen Maximum load: 5 kg The temperatur es indicated are the most suitable for each pr ogramme and depend on the type of laundry and the degr ee of soil. (*) Wash pr ogr amme C at 60°C is the refer ence progr amme for the Ener- gy Label data, in compliance with standar d EEC 92/75.

58 Consumption data and dur ation of main pr ogr ammes The values shown in the chart have been obtained in labor atory tests and have been estimated at a water supply temper ature of 15°C. They may vary when the appliance is used at home, but they can be used as indicative values.
Cleaning and maintenance After each wash At the end of the wash progr amme, pull the dispenser drawer out a lit- tle to let it dry . Leave the door ajar to allow air to cir culate. If the machine is not used for a pr olonged period: Close the water tap(s) and unplug the appliance.
60 Cleaning and maintenance Dr ain filter The drain filter collects threads and small objects inadvertently left in the laundry . Check regularly that the filter is clean. Open the filter door . Place a container under the filter and unscrew it; some water will come out of the filter .
Emer gency emptying out If the water is not dischar ged (pump is blocked, filter or drain hose ar e clogged), proceed as follows to empty out the machine: • pull out the plug from the power socket; .
Something not working? If, during the spin cycle, the machine makes an unusual whistling noise, different fr om the noise made by traditional washing machines, this is due to a new type of motor . If water is not visible in the drum, this is due to the modern technology of new washing machines that use less water than tr aditional machines.

Unsatisfactory washing r esults If the laundry looks gr ey and lime scale is found in the drum • T oo little deter gent has been used. • An unsuitable detergent has been used. • Stubborn stains have not been treated prior to washing. • The progr amme or the temperatur e have not been correctly selected.

Instructions for installation and electrical connection Safety instructions • When unpacking the appliance, check that it is not damaged. If in doubt, do not use it and contact the r etailer . • All internal packing must be r emoved before using the appliance.

Installation Unpacking All transit bolts and packing must be r emoved before using the appliance. Using a spanner , unscrew and r emove the r ear right-hand bolt and lay the machine on its back, taking car e not to squash the hoses. This can be avoided by placing one of the corner packing pieces between the machine and the floor .
P ositioning Install the machine on a flat har d floor . Make sure that air cir culation around the machine is not impeded by carpets, rugs etc. Check that the machine does not touch the wall or other kitchen units. • The floor surface must be clean and dry , without any wax or polish r esidue to avoid any possibility of sliding.
W ater inlet The appliance has two inlet hoses, hot and cold. The inlets on the back of the appli- ance are colour coded, blue for cold and red for hot. Connect the water inlet hoses to separate taps for cold and hot water with a 3/4" thread after having inserted the small filter s “ A” supplied with the machine.
Dir ectly into a drain pipe at a height of not less than 60 cm and not more than 90 cm. The end of the dr ain hose must always be ventilated , i.e. the inside diameter of the dr ain pipe must be lar ger than the outside diameter of the drain hose. The drain hose must not be kinked.
