2 SAFETY RULES W oodworking can be dangerous if safe and pr oper operating procedures ar e not followed. As with all machinery , there are certain hazar ds involved with the operation of the product. Using the machine with respect and caution will considerably lessen the possiblity of personal injury .
3 23. NEVER LEA VE TOOL RUNNING UNA TTENDED. TURN POWER OFF . Don't leave tool until it comes to a complete stop. 24. DRUGS, ALCOHOL, MEDICA TION. Do not operate tool while under the influence of drugs, alcohol or any medication. 25. MAKE SURE TOOL IS DISCONNECTED FROM POWER SUPPL Y while motor is being mounted, connected or reconnected.
4 UNP ACKING Y our drill press is shipped complete in one container . Carefully unpack the drill pr ess and all loose items from the container . Figure 2 illustrates the drill pr ess and all loose items supplied with the machine.
5 CLEANING Remove the protective coating fr om the machined surfaces of the drill press and all loose items. This coating may be removed with a soft cloth moistened with ker osene. DO NOT use acetone, gasoline, or lacquer thinner for this purpose. ASSEMBLING THE DRILL PRESS Fig.

9 POWER CONNECTIONS A separate 110-120 volt, grounded electrical cir cuit should be used for your drill press. This circuit should not be less than #12 wire and should be pr otected with a 20 amp fuse or circuit breaker . Befor e connecting the drill press to the power line, make sure the switch is in the "OFF" position.
10 This tool is intended for use on a circuit that has an outlet and a plug that looks like the one shown in Fig. 19. A temporary adapter , which looks like the adapter illus- trated in Fig. 20, may be used to connect this plug to a 2-pole receptacle, as shown in Fig.

Release belt tension by loosening tension lock knob (B) Fig. 23, and pivoting the motor toward the fr ont of the drill press, as shown.

13 Fig. 32 Fig. 33 Fig. 34 Fig. 35 DRILLING HOLES TO DEPTH Where a number of holes ar e to be drilled to exactly the same depth, a depth stop is provided in the pinion shaft housing and is used as follows: 1. Loosen lock screw (A) Fig. 32, and r otate housing (B) until the pointer (C) lines up with the desired depth indicated on scale (D).
14 BORING IN WOOD T wist drills, although intended for metal drilling, may also be used for boring holes in wood. However , machine spur bits are generally pr eferred for working in wood; they cut a square bottom hole and ar e designed for removal of wood chips.
