2 SAFETY RULES W oodworking can be dangerous if safe and pr oper operating procedures ar e not followed. As with all machinery , there are certain hazar ds involved with the operation of the product. Using the machine with respect and caution will considerably lessen the possibility of personal injury .
3 1. DO NOT operate your tool until it is completely assembled and installed according to the instructions. 2. IF YOU ARE NOT thoroughly familiar with the operation of drill presses, obtain advice fr om your supervisor , instructor or other qualified person.
4 UNP ACKING AND CLEANING Carefully unpack the drill pr ess and all loose items from the shipping container(s). Remove the protective coating fr om the machined surfaces of the drill press. This coating may be r emoved with a soft cloth moistened with kerosene.

IMPORT ANT : Make certain the tapered hole in the bottom of spindle (T) Fig. 8, and the taper on spindle adapter (U) are clean and fr ee of any grease, lacquer or rust preventive coatings.
7 F ASTENING DRILL PRESS BASE TO A SUPPOR TING SURF ACE PERMANENT MOUNTING If your drill press is to be used in one permanent location, the drill pr ess base must be secured to the supporting surface with fasteners through the two mounting holes, (A) Fig.
8 CONNECTING TOOL TO POWER SOURCE POWER CONNECTIONS A separate grounded electrical cir cuit should be used for your tool. This circuit should not be less than #12 wir e and should be protected with a 20 amp fuse or cir cuit breaker . Before connecting the tool to the power line, make sur e the switch is in the “OFF” position.

10 Fig. 17 Fig. 18 ST AR TING AND STOPPING DRILL PRESS The switch (A) Fig. 17, is located on the front of the drill press head. T o turn the drill press “ON” move the switch to the up position. T o tur n the drill press “OFF” move the switch to the down position.
11 Fig. 21 Fig. 22 4. Fig. 21, illustrates the table alignment pin (B) removed. Loosen table locking bolt (D) Fig. 21, tilt table to the desired angle and tighten bolt (D). When r etur ning table to the level position, replace table alignment pin (B).
12 Fig. 26 DRILLING HOLES TO DEPTH When a number of holes are to be drilled to exactly the same depth, a depth stop is provided in the pinion shaft housing and is used as follows: 1. Loosen lock screw (A) Fig. 26, and r otate housing (B) until the pointer (C) lines up with the desired depth indicated on scale (D).
13 Fig. 27 Fig. 28 ADJUSTING SPINDLE RETURN SPRING The spindle is automatically returned to its upper most position upon release of the handle. It is r ecommended that the handle be allowed to slowly return to the top position after all holes have been drilled in the material.
14 BORING IN WOOD T wist drills, although intended for metal drilling, may also be used for boring holes in wood. However , machine spur bits are generally pr eferred for working in wood; they cut a square bottom hole and ar e designed for removal of woodchips.
