2 SAFETY RULES W oodworking can be dangerous if safe and pr oper operating procedures ar e not followed. As with all machinery , there are certain hazards involved with the operation of the pr oduct. Using the machine with respect and caution will considerably lessen the possibility of personal injury .
3 ADDITIONAL SAFETY RULES FOR WOOD SHAPERS 1. WARNING: DO NOT OPERA TE YOUR WOOD SHAPER UNTIL IT IS COMPLETEL Y ASSEMBLED AND INST ALLED ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS. 2. IF YOU ARE NOT thoroughly familiar with the operation of W ood Shapers, obtain advice from your supervisor , instructor or other qualified person.
4 UNP ACKING AND CLEANING Carefully unpack the shaper and fence system fr om the shipping containers. Clean all loose parts and remove the pr otective coating from the machined surfaces of the shaper table. This coating may be removed with a soft cloth moistened with kerosene (do not use acetone, gasoline, or lacquer thinner for this purpose).

The fence on this shaper can be mounted parallel to the miter gage slot using two holes (B) Fig. 14, or 90 degrees to the miter slot by using two holes (A). The following illustrates mounting the fence parallel to the miter gage.

15 CONNECTING SHAPER TO POWER SOURCE GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS CAUTION: THIS TOOL MUST BE GROUNDED WHILE IN USE TO PROTECT THE OPERA TOR FROM ELECTRIC SHOCK. In the event of a malfunction or breakdown, gr ounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to r educe the risk of electric shock.

LOCKING SWITCH IN THE “OFF” POSITION IMPORT ANT : W e suggest that when the shaper is not in use, the switch be locked in the “OFF” position using a padlock (C) Fig.
