Page 12 Page 13 Connection Diagrams Connecting a Preamp Connection of a Preamp Level Device using XLR Inputs This diagram sho ws the RP A-1 amplier connected to a preamplier with XLR outputs . This is the pref erred method of connection where possible .
Page 14 Page 15 Connecting Speakers Connection of a Stereo Speakers This diagram sho ws a traditional single c onnection to two loudspeakers, one left channel and one right channel. Internally the speakers hav e passive networks so there is just a single speaker c onnec tion.
Page 14 Page 15 Biamped Connections (Low Pass and High Pass) This connection shows two RP A-1 ampliers used in a bi-amp mode. One of the ampliers is connected to the low frequency drivers and has a low pass lter emplo yed b y the preamplier .
Page 16 Page 17 12V T rigger Connections The 12 VDC trigger connection shown can be used to turn the amplier on when the preamplier turns on. This trigger will actually trigger with any switched DC V oltage from 5-12 VDC, howev er the major ity of audio components use a standard 12 VDC trigger connection for this function.
Page 16 Page 17 Series and Parallel Speaker Connections Whenever c onnecting more than one speaker per channel to an amplier (regar dless of the brand), you must consider the wa y in which the amplier will be impac ted by adding the additional speaker(s).
Page 18 Page 19 The total impedance of equal speakers in par allel is found b y dividing the impedance of one speaker by the number of speakers. F or example, two eight ohm speakers in parallel is a f our ohm load (eight ohms divided by two), f our eight ohm speakers in parallel is a two ohm load (eight ohms divided b y four).
Page 18 Page 19 Speaker Placement T ips T ips Before Beginning Read this section thoroughly . There are a number of way s in which it may seem aesthetically pleasing to place speakers in a r oom that will ultimately r esult in a sound quality compromise .
