4 Loading Paper Loading Paper F ollow thes e st eps t o load pap er . 1. Open the paper support. T hen open the output tr ay and pull out the extension. 2. Flip the feeder guard forward. 3. P ress in the tab on the ed ge guid e and slid e it le ft. CX4400_qg.
Loading Paper 5 4. Insert the paper , glossy or printable side up, against the right side. Then sli de the edge guid e a gain st the p ap er . Always lo ad paper sho rt edge first, even f or landsc ape printing. Load letter head or pre-pr inted pa per top edge first.

14 Printing From Your Comput er Selecting the Correct Paper Type S elec t th e cor rec t Type (see pa ge 10) or Media Type ( see page 12) sett ing in your printer software. This tells the CX4400 S eries what kind of paper you ’ re using, so the ink co verage can be adjusted acco rding ly .
Scanning a Phot o or Document 15 Scanning a Photo or Document Y ou can us e your CX4400 S eries all-in-one to scan a photo or document and save it on your computer or other device, or t o fax or e-mail it to someo ne el se. Y ou can even restore and correct photo graphs as you scan (see page 1 6).

18 Maintaining Your Al l-in-One Cleaning th e Print Head If print quality has dec lined and the nozzle check patte rn indicate s clogged nozzles, you can cl ean the print head. Note: P rint head c leaning u ses ink, s o clean i t only if n ecessary . If the red B ink light com es o n or flash es, y ou cann ot cle an the prin t head .
Checking the Ink Cartridge Status 19 Checking the Ink Cartridge Sta tus When t he r ed B ink light starts flashing , one or more cartridges ar e low on ink. Y ou can continue pri nting until a cart ridge needs repl acement. When the red B ink light st ays on, you need to repl ace the cart ridge( s).

Replacing Ink Cartridges 23 8. Remo ve the yellow tape fr om the bottom of the ink cartridge . Caution: Do not remo v e an y other lab els o r seal s, or in k will l eak. 9. Insert the ne w ink car tridge into th e holder and push it down until it c licks into pla ce.
