1.6 Grounding the Charger The charger must be grounded to the A C syste m ground for personnel safety. The green ground wire in the AC input wiring must be connected to the charge r groun d stud (Identified by a green dot and ground symbol).
SECTION 2 - OPERA TION The charger utilizes a st andard ferro-resonant tran sformer , which provides isolation from the AC service line and regulates the charging cu rrent. The transformer output is con nected to a full-wave bridge of silicon diodes, which provides DC charging current to the battery .
observe any defective segment s or indicators. When t he self-diagnostic is com plete, the charge st art s if no delay is set, and the yellow ‘Charging’ indicator lights. The display sho ws the charging amp s and battery volts per cell along with a message to indicate the cha rger is in phase 1 of the char ge cycle.
The 046-0371 control ca n provide an auto-refr esh charge as long as the battery remains connected to the charge r if enabled. If AC power is lost during th e wait period, the cont rol resumes from where it left of f after power is restored . During t he auto-refresh charge, the a mp-hours and cha rge time are added to the origi nal charge.
2.1.9 Charge Indications The fo llowing indications are n ot necessarily a result of a charger problem . Th ey are typically caused by external problems such as AC line, poor battery conditi ons, connections , etc.
Note: F3 and F4 clear automatically if the battery voltage falls wit hin acceptabl e limits. All indications except F8, F9 and F10 can be cleare d by disconnecting the battery . For F8, F9 and F10, correct the condition that caused the i ndication an d disc onnect the battery to clear the indi cation.
2.1.12 Programming To enter p rogramming m ode, press and hold the EDIT butto n and while holding it, press the INFO button. The display sho ws a m essage describing t he current paramet er followed by the param eter‘s value.
SECTION 3 - OPTIONAL FEATURES 3.1 Fusible Door-Interlock Switch (JIC Switch) The door interlock switch assembly connects the A C se rvice to the charger’s inp u t fuses for each AC line. The switch is mechanically latche d by the door so t hat it must be in the OFF position before the door can be opened.
