HP Printing Paper HP Printing Pape r is a high -quality multifun ction paper. It pr oduces docu ments that look and feel more substa ntial than documents pr inted on stand ard multipurp ose or copy paper. It features ColorLok Te chnology for less smearing, bold er blacks, and vivid colors.

5. Select th e approp riate optio ns for your prin t job by usi ng the features availab le in the Advanced , Printing Shortcuts , Features , and Co lor tabs. TIP: You can easi ly select the app ropriate optio ns for your print job by choosing one of the pred efined print task s on the Printing Shortcuts tab.
6. Click the Features tab. 7. In the Size li st, click the size of phot o paper loaded in the input t ray. If a borderless im age can be printed on the specified si ze, the Borderless printi ng check box is ena bled. 8. Some softwa re applicat ions offer cu stom fonts t hat have jagged edges when enlarged or print ed. Al so, if you want to print b itmapped text, it might h ave jagged edges when enlarged or printed. If this did no t solve the i ssue, try the next so lution.

Solution 3: Tuck the fla ps to avoid paper ja ms Solution: To avoid pape r jams, tuck the flap s inside the enve lopes. Cause: The flaps might get caught in th e rollers. The produc t prints meaningless cha racters Try the followi ng solutions to resolve the issue.
Solution 1: Check th e printe r margin s Solution: Check the prin ter margins. Make sure the margi n settings for th e document do not excee d the print able area of the product. To check your margin settings 1. Preview you r print j ob before s ending i t to the prod uct.
Make sure that you remove all pap er from the input t ray before loading t he envelopes. Cause: A stack of en velopes was loaded incorr ectly. A blank page came out while printing Try the followi ng solutions to resolve the issue. So lutions are l isted in orde r, with the m ost likely solution f irst.

Solution 2: Insert the memo ry card fully i nto the appropri ate slot on the pro duct Solution: Make sure you fully insert th e memory card into the approp riate slot on the product. If the memory card is not inserted properl y, the product will not respo nd and the green Photo light (near t he memory card slots) will blink rapidly.
Solution 1: Insta ll the pr oduct software Solution: Install th e produ ct softw are tha t came with the pro duct. If it is inst alled, rest art yo ur comp uter. To install the product software 1. Insert the product CD-ROM into your compu ter’s CD-ROM drive and then start the Setup program.
For more informati on on setting up the product and conne cting it to your computer, see the Setup Gui de that came wi th the product. Cause: The pro duct was not prop erly connected to the computer.
Solution 2: Place the o riginal corr ectly o n the glass Solution: Load th e original print side down on t he right fron t corner of the glass as shown below. Cause: The original wa s placed in correctly on the gl ass. If this did no t solve the i ssue, try the next so lution.
Parts of the original do not appear or are cu t off Solution: Load the orig inal print side down on the right f ront corner of the glass as shown bel ow. Cause: The ori ginal was place d incorrectly on th e glass. Resize to Fit is no t working as expected Try the followin g solutions to reso lve the issue.
Solution 2: Place the o riginal corr ectly o n the glass Solution: Load th e original print side down on t he right fron t corner of the glass as shown below. To copy a photo, position the photo on the glass so that the long ed ge of the photo is along the front ed ge of the glass.
Cause: The ori ginal was place d incorrectly on th e glass. Scan troubleshooting Use this section to solve these sca n problems : • Scanned imag e is blan k • Scanned imag e is incorre ctly crop p.
Cause: If you used the Text image type to scan text that you planned to edit, the scanner mi ght not have re cognized colo r text. The Text image type scans at 300 x 300 dpi, i n black and wh ite. If you scanne d an original tha t has graphics or artw ork surrounding the text, the scanner mi ght not have recognized the text.
NOTE: If you are us ing HP Ph otosmart Essenti al, the Opti cal Characte r Recognition (OC R) software m ight not be instal led on your comput er. To in stall the OCR softw are, you must re-ins ert the software disk and select OCR under the Custom installation opti ons.
Firmware re vision mismatch Solution: Conta ct HP support f or service. Go to: www.hp.com/support . If prompted, choose your country/regi on, and then clic k Contact HP for information on callin g for te chnical support. Cause: The revision n umber of the pro duct firmware di d not matc h the revision number of the soft ware.
Cause: The H P Photosmart Soft ware was not insta lled. If this di d not s olve the issue, try the next so lution. Solution 2: Tu rn on the product Solution: Turn on the produ ct. Cause: The pro duct was turned o ff. If this di d not s olve the issue, try the next so lution.
File messages The followi ng is a list of file-related e rror messages: • Error reading or writi ng the fil e • Unreadable fi les. NN files cou ld not be read • Photos not found • File n ot fo.
File not found Solution: Close some ap plications and try the task a gain. Cause: There was not enoug h available memory on your com puter to creat e a print preview f ile. Invalid fil e name Solution: Make sure that you are no t using any invalid symbol s in the file name.
General u ser messages The followi ng is a list of messag es related to comm on user errors: • Cannot crop • Borderless printi ng error • Memo ry ca rd e rror • Out of disk space • Card acce.
Cause: The pro duct was in ink-backu p mode with onl y the black print cartridge installed, and a borderle ss print job was init iated. Memory card erro r Try the followin g solutions to reso lve the issue. Solutions are l isted in order, w ith the m ost likely solution fi rst.
If this did no t solve the i ssue, try the next so lution. Solution 2: Push the memo ry card all the w ay forward Solution: Remove the memory card and reinsert it in t he memory ca rd slot unti l it stops. Cause: You had not fully inserted the memory card.
Card is not fully in serted Solution: Make sure you fully insert th e memory card into the approp riate slot on the product. If the memory card is not inserted properl y, the product will not respo nd and the green Photo light (near t he memory card slots) will blink rapidly.
Cause: The last time the produ ct was used, it was not t urned off properl y. The product can be damaged if it is turned of f by turning o ff the swit ch on a po wer strip or by using a wa ll switch.
Solution 1: In correc t type of pa per is loaded in the input tray Solution: If you have colore d paper loaded in th e input tray whe n you align the print cartridges, the alignment fa ils. Load u nused plain w hite letter or A4 paper into t he input tray, an d then try the alignment ag ain.
Solution 3: Chec k if print cartri dges are fully i nserted Solution: Remove and then rein sert the pri nt cartridges . Verify that the y are fully inserted an d locked in place. Cause: The contacts on the print cartr idge were no t touchi ng the conta cts in the print carriage.
Also, make sure the print cartridges are installed into the correct slo ts. To make sur e the print cartri dges are ins talled co rrectly 1. Make sure th e produ ct is tu rned on. CAUTION: If the product is turned off when you o pen the print cartridge door to access the print cartridges, it wi ll not release the cartri dges for changing .
5. Reinsert the pri nt cartridge by slid ing it forw ard into the slot on the right . Then push the pri nt cartridge forward until it clicks into the socket. 6. Repeat steps 1 a nd 2 for the tr i-color print cart ridge on the left side. Cause: The indicated print cartridges we re installe d incorrectly.
• Solution 3: Remove a nd reinsert th e print cartrid ges • Solution 4: Co ntact HP support Solution 1: Inse rt the print cartri dges Solution: One or both of the print cartridges is mi ssing. Remove and re insert the print cartridges and verify t hat they are ful ly inserted and locked in p lace.
7. Clean only th e copper-colored cont acts. Allo w the print cart ridges t o dry for approxim ately ten min utes. 1 Coppe r-col ored cont act s 2 Ink nozzles (do not clean) 8. Hold the p rint cartridge with the HP logo on top, a nd insert t he print cartridge ba ck into the slot.
If this di d not s olve the issue, try the next so lution. Solution 2: Remove t he tape from the print cartridges Solution: Check each print cartridge. The tape might have been removed fro m the copper-colo red contacts, but stil l might cover the i nk nozzles.
3. Lightly press down on the print cartridge to release it, an d then pull it towards you out of the slo t. NOTE: Do not remove both print cartridg es at the same time. Re move an d clean each prin t cartridge o ne at a t ime. Do not leav e a print cartridge o utside the HP Photosmart f or more than 30 minut es.
9. Repeat if necessary for the other pri nt cartridg e. 10. Gently close the print cartridge doo r and plug th e power cord into th e back of the produc t. Cause: One or b oth of the print cartridges were no t installed or w ere installe d incorrectly.
Print cartridg es missing o r not detected Try the followi ng solutions to resolve the issue. So lutions are l isted in orde r, with the m ost likely solution f irst. If the first soluti on does not solve th e problem, conti nue trying th e remaining solu tions until the issue is resolved.
4. Remove the black print cart ridge from the slo t on the right. Do not touch the i nk nozzles or the copper-colo red contacts. Ch eck for possible da mage to the copper - colored contacts or ink nozzles. Make sure the clea r plastic tape has b een remove d.
Make sure you have the fol lowing material s available: • Dry foam rubber swabs, lint -free cloth, or any soft material th at will n ot come apart or leave fi bers.
