Operations 13 Oper atio ns P ower up the server 1. Connect each power cor d to the server. 2. Connect each power cord to the power sour ce. 3. P ress the Power On/Standby button. The server ex its standby mod e and applies full po wer to the system. The system power LE D changes from amber to gree n.
Operations 14 2. Close and lock the tower b ezel. U nlock the tower bezel The tower bez el must be unlocked an d opened t o access the drive c age and media bays. It must be u nlocked to remove the access panel. The b ezel must remain closed during no rmal server opera tions.
Operations 15 3. P ull the bezel away from the front chassis. I nstall the acc ess panel 1. Unlo ck the tower bezel (on page 14 ), if locked. 2. I nstall the access panel: a. Place the access panel on the chassis, and slide it toward the front of the server.
Operations 16 CAUTION: For proper cooling, do not op erate the server without the a ccess panel, baffles, expansion s lot covers, or bla nks installed. If the server suppor ts hot - plug component s, minimize the amount of time the access panel is o pen.

Se tup 19 S etup O ptional installa tion services Delivered b y experienced, certified engin eers, HP Care Pack ser vices help you keep your server s up and running with support packages tailored specifically for HP ProLiant systems. HP Care Packs let you integrate both hardware and so ftware support into a single pac kage.
Setup 20 T emperature requiremen ts To ensure continued, safe, and reliable eq uipment operation, install or position the system in a well - ventilated, climate - controlled environment. The maximum recomm ended TMRA for most se rver products is 35°C (95°F ).
Setup 21 S erver war nings and caut ions WARNING: This server is ver y heavy. To reduce t he risk of persona l injury or da mage to the equipment: • Observe local occu pational health and safe ty requirements and gu idelines for manual materia l handling.
Setup 22 I nstalling th e operating system To operate properly, th e server must have a suppo rted operating system ins talled. For the latest information on operating syste m support, see the HP website ( http://www.hp.com/go/supportos ). A device driver is req uired for the operating syst em to communicate with th e storage controller.

Hardware options installation 33 M emory options IMPORTANT: This server does not suppor t mixing LRDIMMs, RDIMM s, or UDIMMs. Attempt ing to mix any combinat ion of these DIMMs can cause th e server to halt during BIOS initialization. The server supports du al - rank UDIMMs operating at a speed of up to 1600 MHz.
