Read This Befor e Installing Thermostat IMPOR T ANT 1 Read the entir e installation section of this Owner’ s Manual thor oughly befor e you begin to install or operate your Hunter Thermostat. • Remove the mylar label fr om the display window . INST ALLA TION 2 All installation is normally performed at your thermostat.
This thermostat is designed to optimize the use of your heating and cooling equipment. It does this by matching your comfort (the temperatur es in your home) to your schedule. An example: 6 a.m. – Y ou wake up. Pr ogram 1 has the heat set to 70° (21°C).
LIGHT 6-7 Featur es Manual switch for tur ning on heating and cooling system. Display backlight for viewing in the dark. Manual switch for automatic or continuous fan operation. Battery door for easy access Soft touch pr ogramming buttons (see below) Display shows time, day , temperatur e, pr ogram number , hold, usage and low battery indicator .
Changes the clock into 12 or 24 hour (military) mode. For entering minute of day . For r evising and changing weekday or weekend pr ograms T o r eset filter counter back to zer o. Retur ns display to curr ent time and temperatur e. Automatically pr ograms the thermostat for weekday and weekend pr ogram settings.
This thermostat comes with two #8 slotted scr ews and two wall anchors for mounting. T o install your unit, you should have the following tools and materials.

■ Each wir e coming from the wall to the existing thermostat is connected to a terminal point on that thermostat. Each of these terminal points is usually marked with a code letter as shown in T able A on page 11. ■ The number of wir es in your system can be as few as two (for heat only systems), as many as eight, or any number in between.

12-13 Installation NOTE: If your thermostat has one wire marked R or RH (4-wire system), then leave the jumper wire between the RH and RC terminals. Otherwise, if you have separate RH and RC wires (5-wire system), then remove the jumper wire between the RH and RC terminals.
Snap open the wallplate fr om your thermostat by pressing the r elease tab on the bottom of the thermostat. Position wallplate on wall and pull existing wir es through lar ge opening. Then level for appearance. Mark holes for plastic anchors pr ovided if existing holes do not line up with Hunter Thermostat holes.
The heating system selector and the F°/C° selector switches ar e located on the Printed Cir cuit Board. ■ Heating system selector The heating system selector is a switch on the Printed Cir cuit Board on the inside of the thermostat. The switch is at “HG” position.
■ Be sur e to tighten the terminal screws secur ely , otherwise a loose wire could cause operational pr oblems with your system or thermostat. ■ Push excess wir e back into hole to prevent interfer ence with mounting of the thermostat cover . ■ Make sur e the Function Switch is set at OFF , and the F AN-AUTO Switch is in AUTO.
Pr ogramming 1 Remove mylar label covering display window . 2 When the heating or cooling system is actually operating, “HEA T” or “COOL” will appear on the display . 3 If power is interrupted the batteries will keep all pr ograms. 4 If “LOW BA TT” indicator appears on the display r eplace the batteries.
■ Pr ess and hold until current hour appears on display . ■ Note the AM/PM indicator . ■ Pr ess and hold until current minutes appear on display . ■ Pr ess until current day appears on display . ■ Retur ns to normal time and temperatur e. ■ If r etur n is not pr essed it will r eturn automatically in 10 seconds.
Pr ogramming Studies conducted by the Department of Ener gy estimate that setting your thermostat back 10°F for two 8-hour periods during winter can r educe your fuel bill by as much as 30%. By setting your thermostat up 5° for two 8-hour periods during summer you can r educe your fuel bill up to 25%.
NOTE: The thermostat program will NOT take effect immediately after programming of your thermostat but at the next programmed time/temperature change. The thermostat is pre-set to 68°F (20°C) for heat and 78°F (25°C) for air conditioning.
Pr ogramming Befor e programming or changing the pr ogram, use this Personal Program Schedule to determine which times and temperatur e settings will best satisfy both your comfort and ener gy saving requir ements. Use a pencil so you can r evise your recor ds each time you change your temperatur e settings.
Y our thermostat can be pr ogrammed in two dif ferent ways. 1. Auto-pr ogram method 2. Manual method Befor e programming, position the Heat/Of f/Cool selector to the mode to be pr ogrammed. Auto-pr ogram method In auto-pr ogram method, you can program your thermostat instantly for the entir e week by simply pr essing “Auto Prog.

W eekends can be pr ogrammed with one schedule, or dif ferent schedules for Satur day and Sunday .

In the event you wish to hold your manual override for vacation or just an extended period of time, follow the temporary manual override instructions on page 26, then immediately pr ess HOLD/CLEAR. This will maintain override setting indefinitely . “HOLD” will appear on the display .
