37 2 Technical Reference 2.1 Memory Map 2.1.1 Addressable Memory The board utilizes 2 GB of addressable syst em memory. Typically the address space that is allocated for PCI Conventional bu s add-in cards, PCI Express configuration space, BIOS (SPI Flash), and chipset overhe ad resides above the top of DRAM (total system memory).

57 3 Overview of BIOS Features 3.1 Introduction The board uses an Intel BIOS that is stored in the Serial Periph eral Interface Flash Memory (SPI Flash) and can be updated using a disk-based program. The SPI Flash contains the BIOS Setu p program, POST, the P CI auto-conf iguration utility, LAN EEPROM inf ormation, and Plug and Play support.

67 4 Error Messages and Beep Codes 4.1 BIOS Front-panel Power LED Codes The front-panel power LED blinks off and on to display messages. For example, the power LED is on when the system is powere d on, and blinks off for 0.5 second when processor initialization is complete.
